A step up from the big box store squares
This square is a step above the big box store square offerings in terms of accuracy, utility, and quality. The edges have a band of heavier metal to keep from getting banged up. It is easy to use both sides. I think this makes an awesome bridge between your average speed square which are often way off accuracy wise and a higher end aluminum square north of 100$. You are getting a lot for the money here.

Well made product
I've been impressed with the Tajima measuring tapes that I've purchased so I figure I would try this saw guide. I do have a Swanson Speed Square which I do use as a square and a saw guide. I was amazed how light the Tajima is. So light that it replaced my Speed Square in my tool bag. The edge is almost polished to a mirror finish. I'm almost afraid to use it against a saw. I tested it against a trusted precision square and it's perfectly square. Admittedly, the price may make some hesitate. In any case, I do highly recommend this guide.

Unique Design Gives Additional Saw Baseplate Support.
Unlike a traditional speed square, where the cutting guide reference edge is on the outside or perimeter of the square, the reference edge in offset and inside the square. When aligned as a cutting guide, more straight edge is available for the saw’s baseplate to align before the material is contacted by the blade. This feature is on each side of the guide. One side for 90 and the other for 45 degree cuts. It definitely gives additional support to align the saw’s baseplate when starting a cut with a circular saw. Additionally, the lightweight magnesium casting is very well crafted and the two reference edges are machined to a mirror finish. Nice quality. Yakima makes another version of this design that is limited to 90 degree crosscuts. I am considering this as a future purchase.
