Healthy cuttings ready to root!
I ordered these elderberry cuttings without putting much research into it. I almost forgot I ordered them untill they showed up, it wasn’t the normal 2 to 7 day shipping wait, more like 2 weeks. They arrived kind of later in the day and I didn’t have enough potting soil for them so I put them in a container (still packaged), to hold the moisture in and keep them from drying out. I spent the night researching how to root elderberry cuttings. They came with instructions which I fallowed but changed a couple things. When I woke the next morning I immediately placed them into mason jars filled with distilled water about half way up the cuttings. I let them soak for about 36 hours, spraying the tops every couple hours. I then got a bag of organic potting mix (the instructions said to use miracle grow😖), mixed in about 1/3 compost and a couple hand fulls of worm castings. I cut some old plastic pure leaf tea and Evian water bottles in half, along with some holes on the bottom for drainage. I filled them with the soil and stuck my cuttings in about 1/3 of the way covered. I then took some baggies and plastic bags, sprayed them on the inside and placed them over the cuttings in the soil, using hair ties to keep the bag in place, to make little greenhouses for them. I have them sitting in my air conditioned house, on my kitchen table, away from direct sun light. The cuttings were very healthy when they arrived and they already started sending out little shoots when they were soaking. To know if your cuttings are alive still you can do the thumb nail test and scratch the brown surface of the branch, if you see a green layer under it you are good to go. This goes for all cuttings and bare root trees. I didn’t need to do the thumb nail test with these because they were so alive and healthy I could see the green right on the stems! I’m very pleased with my purchase and I highly recommend ordering from this seller. I also want to add that I was expecting to get 6 cuttings like description said, they sent me 9! I will update the progress as time goes on.

Never sprouted!!
Alas, my attempts to grow elderberry were unsuccessful. As many of the reviewers reported , I, too, received a more-than promised number of cuttings, and I immediately set some of them into pots and some into the yard. After two months, there is NO evidence of growth. When I contacted the seller, they offered to send extra cuttings if I would ORDER SOME MORE! I'm not willing to waste my time or money, just to have my hopes dashed again.

All cuttings are showing progress!
Order says 6 and they sent 9. They are were plump and healthy, I put in a Mason jar for a couple weeks they started to get green sprouts and root bumps so I just put on rooting powder and put them in soil going to give a couple more weeks then transfer them to the ground..will probably give away five because I only wanted four to begin with but so have all 9 are doing well especially since a couple were really thin.

No growth after about 5 weeks
I did ask the seller how long until I would see growth but as of right now there has been no sign of growth at all. I received them on the 19th of April after soaking them for 24 hours in distilled water I dipped the ends in rooting hormone and then planted them as stated in the instructions. I kept them out of direct sun in a cool (not cold) area of my home. They do get plenty of light and are kept lightly damp not wet. I spend more time with the care of these than I do for any of my other plants, and still nothing through today (May 25th).Don't know what to do at this point. Will be contacting the seller again about what I should be expecting to happen at this point. Will update as the situation changes (If it does).UPDATE: It is now September 3rd and I still only have sticks. I did contact the seller but was basically only told the same things as before with an emphasis on the necessity of keeping the cuttings damp, not wet or dry. And even though I did this, as I stated before I put more effort into these cuttings than I have with pretty much any of my other plants I still never even achieved leaves. I was made to feel as if it were my fault that the things did not grow and there was no further contact.I think that this seller is NOT concerned with happy customers at all. If I could give them 0 stars I would have. I am not happy at all that they took my money and then tried to make it my fault they didn't grow so that they could keep my money. Very poor customer service and quality control in my opinion. I will NOT be getting anything from the seller again. WHAT A RIP OFF!

Got cuttings as described.
The cuttings arrived and were fresh. Unfortunately, I must be doing something wrong or it was the wrong time of year to be starting cuttings (summer), because I could not get any of the cuttings to live. I contacted the vendor and they sent me a second bunch of cuttings for free. I tried a couple different planting methods and out of all the cuttings I only managed to get one to continue growing. I brought that cutting inside for the winter and it is still growing strong. It is now 2 ft tall and other than having leaves dry up and fall off occasionally it is doing fine. In the spring I will plant it outside and cross my fingers that it will continue to do well.

Seller is great, I couldn't get the cuttings to grow
The seller is great, communicates well and was very nice. I was super happy to get my cuttings and followed the instructions that came in the package, but they never even grew roots. I'm not sure if it was something I did or something with that particular group of cuttings, but I was bummed. I'll probably try another round at some point though, just because the seller was actually nice and answered all my questions.

Would definitely buy again!
I ordered 6 cuttings I received 10. When I received them, I was a little unsure. But, let me tell you! All but one got leaves and was doing great! Crazy Florida weather got a couple of them. But I have 5 that are thriving. I am very satisfied with my order and will be order another 6 again shortly.
