Beginner here! Pls recommend right kind of maps (brand & where to get them) for FL, GA & NC to use w/this protractor & a compass

Thanks for your question! The USGS Map Store is a great place to find topographic maps for this area. You will probably also find the MapTools website helpful--it has a number of great tutorials.

I'm planning a trip to yellowstone and my maps are at 1:63360 scale, am I right that this won't work properly?

Do they have one with 1/70,000 scale

How thick is the plastic?

The tool is about 0.030" thick. The material is not brittle, but rather stiff and flexible. It is very similar to the thickness and flexibility of a credit card.
