Our 5 yr old son loves this whale. It is his constant bathing companion. Very realistic, of a great size and feels really solid (weighs probably 2 lbs). Very nice detailing, and color is very resistant to abrasion (from indoor surfaces at least).Highly recommended.We've probably bought at least 50 of these plastic toy animals, dinosaurs and dragons, and I have to say that Papo and Schleich simply have no equal when it comes to realism and durability.

Papo makes beautiful figurines and the humpback whale is another fine example of their fine craftsmanship. First time buying a ocean themed Papo and it definitely meets expectations. This is not a cheaply made toy. It is very detailed and quite heavy. I will definitely be purchasing more ocean themed Papo in the future. Highly recommended.

Great bath toy! Very solid and lifelike. A quality item that will last forever!!! My daughter is getting this for Christmas and will love it in addition to all her other whale toys!!! She is a future marine biologist!!! Yay!

I have a display shelf of things I find at the beach. Shells and other things. I see humpbacks frequently here on the Kona coast and I wanted a model of one to add to my display. This model is a quality item. It costs more but is worth it. I also ordered the calf model. If you've ever wanted to see real humpbacks then visit the Big Island January through March.

My daughter has been interested in whales lately so when we saw this one and the mouth opens we ordered it. Its very nice, with lots of great details and its heavy. I could be used for display although for us it is a toy. I would recommend it.

As a marine life artist I not only study whales, but also educate people about them. This is not only a great toy, but I bought it for use as a model/teaching tool. As one of the reviewers who knows about Humpback whales mentioned, that it is made a little "chunky" and the dorsal fin is absent. She is correct...and I agree with her. Maybe this is a younger whale? Other than that, if used for education purposes the detailing could be better. If you plan to use it for a teaching tool, I would recommend the one made by Schliech. That one is more expensive, but is much more realistic and accurate on the anatomy and detailing. I have that one too, and in my opinion is the best and most close to real life model of a Humpback whale I know of. As other's have also mentioned, if you only want to show the inside of a baleen whales mouth than this is perfect for that. It clearly shows the baleen in the upper jaw, and the toungue in the lower jaw. The only complaint I have is that mine, the mouth doesn't open very wide...as least not as wide as the picture shows. I wonder if mine is made that way, or maybe it's a little "tight" being brand new? I tried to pull it open more, but am afraid of breaking off the lower jaw. Real whales can open their jaws much wider than this, but it's ok anyway, for teaching I suppose. I just wish it could open wider like a real whale can, so I can educate others. The whale is a great color which is the real whales color, and enough detailing to get the point accross. Just not as much detailing and accuracy as I had hoped for. The whale is very heavy, thick and durable. About a foot in length. I do like it though and still recommend it.

Sad to give this a one star review as I have bought Papo animal figures before with no issues. We gave this whale to my 7 year old son as a gift from Santa. It didn't even last one day before one of the flippers detached. There was no rough playing with it prior to it breaking.
