I actually own a genuine OutaskTelescopic Lantern, which looks like “Mytrix” have tried to copy with this Light - It’s easy to compare the two together as they look very similar in Design & Functionality! Although the Outask one appears better made and feels of a more Substantial Build Quality, this one is about Half the Price at just £58.64 (£68.99 minus a 15% off voucher on the advert) - This makes it Great Value, so cost wise it’s a Definite Winner! If you’re a little bit of a “Bushcraft/Camping Snob” like myself and tend to go for the Best Branded Products despite their Price, then you’ll probably just skip purchasing this one and buy the Original & Best Outask one? Don’t get me wrong though, this Mytrix Light is still Great and I’ll be keeping it in my 72 Hour Survival Pack, as at this Low Price I can afford to. It all works well and it does actually have some extra things that the Outask one doesn’t, such as: Colour Temperature Control, Strobe Mode and comes with a Storage Bag. Talking about the latter, I had to pay over £25 extra to buy a Storage Bag that will fit my Outask Lantern and I had to get it from America! Overall, this Mytrix Branded Light is a Great Item, at a Great Price and I’m certainly not going to knock it down a Star just because there’s a better one out there, that’s in a totally different Price Bracket! This is chunky. You would only take this on a camping trip in the same way you would take a deck chair – in the boot of the car. Which is not to detract from its quality, but it is not something that would go in a backpack. The fast-charging claim is not accurate. I put this on a fast charger (65W) out of the box, and it was flashing 3 out of 4 LEDs, suggesting it was a little over 50% full. It still took ~3 hours to charge. The tripod is very solid and the magnets are strong – I was able to get this to cling quite strongly to my fridge door (hardly a camp test, but I was interested to see just whether the magnets were as good as claimed). The central strut extends easily but sturdily, but the ambient light does not/cannot travel with it. This is a bit of a pain, as the light source for the ambient light is on the bottom of the light head, so if you want to use the ambient light, the extension pole is useless. And while the light head can be tilted from horizontal to vertical, it cannot be angled downward at all (although the ambient light is underneath, of course, but is not as strong, or focussed). This could easily have been provided by the topmost. Inner extension strut being hinged at some point. These two oversights cost this a star.
