worked well for what I needed
I used this to clear the water tank on a WaterRower rowing machine. I misread the instructions for the machine (did not add the requisite water purification tablet in a timely fashion). Algae had grown in the tank but after adding 1/4 cup of the APE PondCare the algae disappeared in a few days. I did change the water before treatment. Now I add the recommended water purification tablets and the water is crystal clear once more. This stuff works.

Green water was a problem with my Koi pond. Microbial Algae Clean helped clear up the water. Use with Simply Clear made the pond perfect

Did not work
I really wanted this product to work, but it didn't do anything for my green water. I used it in my 150 gallon stock tank pond, with four 5" shubunkin goldfish in it. The pond is in full shade with live plants in a bog filter and a water lily and frogbit covering about 30% of the surface. It is fully cycled and has been running for almost a year, with ammonia/nitrite/nitrate all at 0 ppm. I *shouldn't* have a problem with green water, but I do. I can improve it with a 50% water change, but it comes right back. No hair/string algae -- just green water that won't go away. I used this product as directed for two weeks, then doubled the dosage and continued it for another month, with no change. Pictures show clearer water after a water change when I first started using the Microbial Algae Clean, and then greener water today, a month and a half later. Really disappointed.

Okay?
Didn't seem to help much but didn't hurt. This is not an algacide so don't expect immediate or exceptional results. It claims to introduce microbes that assist in cleaning the pond and, I guess, mine is a bit cleaner. At least I'm not worried about the fish, birds, and animals that share the water with it.

Magic
I received this 10 days ago and have treated twice, my little pond is crystal clear. I was almost ready to give up, I could not keep it clear before I tried this and swapped out the filter sponge for a layer of filter floss. So happy.

Does work well for chlorella
This is not an algae killer but a special bacteria that feed on the type of algae that float in the water making water look green and opaque. I tried it in my 16,500 gallon pond for the last month, and as long as you keep adding it, the pea soup stays away. It has no effect on the algae like string algae or the stuff that sticks to the liner of the pond. Used with koi, goldfish and tadpoles and there is no problem. Don't forget to turn off your UV or it will kill the bacteria and prevent it from working.
