Sliced through foam board
Wonderful item that saved me insulating a shed. Sliced through foam board like butter - no mess.

Not HOT enough
It doesn't seem to get hot enough to cut through foam board like butter. It cuts through, but it is a slow process

Cuts like butter!
This was just what I needed for my project. I went slow and steady and it cut perfectly. I was able to turn the heat up and down accordingly.

Very disappointed, and not very happy
Where do I start? I really hate giving poor reviews, but fair is fair.I should’ve returned this foam cutter immediately when I saw that it appeared to be cheaply made, but I was desperate to get my project done, so I gave it a try. It was not easy to use,and I wasted a lot of time trying to get the temperature correct for the 2” upholstery foam that I was using. It was either too cool or too warm, so the edges of my work were not smoothly cut. The cutting blade actually bent while I was trying to slice through the foam, which meant that I had to figure out another way to complete my project.I will not use this item again, nor can I recommend it to anyone else. Instead I will revert to using an electric meet carver. Don’t waste you time or money because this item is:- poorly designed (thermostat &blades)- poorly made (did not work as advertised)- functions poorly (did not get the job done- a waste of time- and overall, a WASTE OF MONEY

cut's foam
easier than heating up metal with a torch and trying to quickly cut and shape foam before it cools.

Works if you move slowly and remove cut foam quickly
I found that this cutter is much slower to heat up than the manual says. But it does get there in about 30 to 60 seconds. It cuts through thicker foam, although you need to move slowly to get the smoothest results. It works well to score for breaking pieces. But if you plan on cutting completely through the piece make sure to grab the cut piece off quickly or it will stick to the knife and become a gummy stringy mess. Also, I would definitely recommend using this with PPE as the fumes that come off of the foam are not good for your health.

Nice tool for cutting foam
This hot knife cuts through foam well. It makes it much easier than cutting with a regular knife. It heats up quick, and has a nice rugged carrying case. Happy to have this tool.

Works as indicated, comfortable to grip
Fairly nice tool to use for cutting various foams, rigid insulation, etc. Just be sure to wear a mask or cut things outdoors, as fumes are not healthy to breathe. Safety glasses and safety wear helps prevent a trip to the hospital.Tool comes in a case for storing, and includes two different size blades, wire brush to clean the blade, and a hex tool to install the blades.Blades are easy to install and take out, loosen 4 hex bolts, slide the blade in, tighten down and done. While the blades are not razor sharp, they do have an edge to them. The power cord is not super long so if working with larger pieces or in a large area an extension cord helps.Operation is super simple, hold the trigger down to heat up the blade and then cut the material while holding down the trigger. Trigger can be held with two fingers helping any possible fatigue. The tool itself is also not very heavy either, and with the shape and finger grooves you can use it for hours without discomfort. So far the tool is working well on styrofoam, rigid pink insulation, and other various foams. The shorter blade is easier to use most of the time, especially if you are trying to add texturing or odd/offset cuts. From time to time, you do need to clean the blade as it can get gunked up.Storing the tool, you will need to let it completely cool down, then the blade can be removed (and cleaned). I mainly used the included brush for cleaning the blade while hot. I found that letting the blade cool down, and then using some IPA with a scouring pad (a copper pad seems to work very well without scratching the blade up too much) really helps clean it up.I do like the tool a lot so far, and should anything happen I will be sure to revise this review.
