Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition - PlayStation 4

This game is truly getting back on track as to what made Harvest Moon such an addicting game back in the day.I'm proud to say that I've played EVERY SINGLE Harvest Moon game. The ones in previous years started to get more realistic and complicated, which was nice, but also took away from the simplicity of the game.With Light of Hope, it takes you back to when the game was more relaxing and fun. There are many different ways to play the game, and different intensities. If you just want to follow the story and run a farm, you can. If you want to complete the encyclopedia and gain all of the different crop variations, fish, animal products, etc, you can do that too.I'm really hoping that Natsume continues to pump out this style of Harvest Moon game.Obviously the game has some issues, but being that Natsume came into creating the Harvest Moon games on their own recently, it shows that they are going in the correct direction, which is why it deserves 5 stars.The issues are very small and don't directly effect gameplay at all, which is why they don't bother me.I love the crop variations, and different variations of animals. I would love to see even more in the next game! It would also be cool to see more customizability in your home/farm, but those are things that can be added to the next game.Overall, it's a solid game with a great story that's true to the Harvest Moon series, while adding new things that make the game more exciting. Definitely excited for the next one!!

This was disc-only, no instructions, but I have played several games from this series, and I like this one the best. Have been playing at least an hour each day since I got this.

I’ve been a Harvest Moon fan since playing on N64. Playing on PS4 has been nothing but a blast. The story is beautiful and the gameplay is great. I love the old school style and up to date graphics. It’s challenging at times but still very fun. Can’t wait to play One World after I’m done with Light of Hope.

First of all, this game is nowhere near as bad as people are making it out to be. This is coming from someone who has played several harvest moons old and new for the DS and PlayStation and even the Wii. And yes stardew valley as well.Here’s what’s important if you’re a fan of these farming/life simulator type games:1. Any Harvest Moon created in the past 5 years have all been made from people different than the “original” devs. They make Story of Seasons now.Nice little summary:-Very easy and dumbed down game. Everything gets explained to you. You don’t even get to choose tools everything is done by pressing the action button. Everything is basically handed to you(Milker, brush, etc unlike other games)- Graphics and animations are a little too cutesy and childish for my tastes(comparing this to the 3DS harvest moon graphics)- Characters Don’t have generic personalities at least and there’s plenty of people to date/interact with along with your common “events” and interactions.-Story is your typical “town dying, need help” but this one focuses on a lighthouse and restoring light to the island/land.-Overall very playable game and I don’t regret buying it. Just don’t pay anything over $30-$35 for it.P.S “special edition” means you get a gem sprite that turns either male or female depending on the gender of your character that is also datable and you can use them in a multiplayer function to help around the farm. You get them early year 1 of playing.

I loved the harvest moon ‘save the homeland’ harvest moon on ps2 and so I thought about buying another harvest moon for my ps4. I had seen this before it was on sale and was tempted to buy it on pre sale. Luckily I didn’t for within months of it being out, its price was decreased. It is a great game, fun to play, and lots of things to do. However, I am glad that I purchased it at the decreased price. It has loading sequences that seem to take a bit too long. The plot gets muddled where I am unsure where to go next. The biggest downside is that the multiplayer is.... well I am glad that I didn’t buy it with the intention or even knowing that it had a multiplayer feature. I love that it is there, but it would be weird to have someone come over to play harvest moon together. I like the multiplayer with my twin, because we are content even if it didn’t exist and it’s not awkward for one of us to help out minimally( which it is minimally that multiplayer works). But do not have a friend over to play with you with this game. I do think it’s an added feature though and I love that it was added. The characters are a bit annoying given that they constantly think your avatar is ‘weird’ but they are cool too. Furthermore, my plants keep randomly dying and so I am unsure if fertilizer is required or not.... a bit trivial. There’s other things that one can figure out but it is difficult to figure out since they have to happen in a very specific order and so that’s discouraging at times. However, I really love this game and don’t regret buying it. It is worth the money and will provide hours and hours worth of fun.

This game is so cute and addictive. I wish you could have same sex partners because non-straights exist. But this is such a nice, low key game. No monsters, no fighting, just growing crops and mining and makin pals

I love this game. It is simple and short as far as the story line goes and I love it because of that. I have played other Harvest Moon games and I enjoy them but this one thus far has been my favorite. The game play is simplified and it is enjoyable instead of being stressful. It's a nice way to relax after a long day
