Stea Aliens [4K UHD]

The best action movie of the 80’s. With smoking (unfortunately).As anybody reading this already knows, it’s really a story of redemption, of Ripley regaining the family and friends she lost originally. Cameron for all his hardness actually has a soft heart and likes happy endings and this film definitely ends has that.All subsequent Alien films (a bit like Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein) are curios and can be safely ignored.Especially ignore the die hards who say Alien3 is a troubled but actually brilliant film because it was directed by Fincher and written on the hop whilst being made and stars a vast number of classical British actors. That doesn’t excuse the fact it’s terrible.And it’s the best one of all the subsequent movies!Daniels not suspecting that Walter could be David? Ripley and Bishop not thoroughly checking the Sulaco for any alien eggs?Ripley AND a dog impregnated by by just one facehugger?Come on, the producers and writers were taking us for fools! And you get die hard’s who have to invent all sorts of convoluted reasons to explain it!No, there’s just no getting away from it. Alien and Aliens were totally brilliant, the rest don’t count. And I’ve seen them all and WANTED them to count, but it just doesn’t work.I may have strayed somewhat from my original thoughts on Aliens….. I guess Alien3 still winds me up 30 years later with the fact that it has major plot holes and killed Newt. Off screen! The bastards…

Have watched this film so many times over the years. In my opinion an exception when the sequel is better than the first film. And it doesn't seem to age as some older science fiction films can. It was made in 1986 but could have easily been made in the last few years.If you like science fiction, are okay with being scared a little [yes, the first time i saw this in the cinema i was literally scared - heart pumping, hands grasping the seat, fixated to what was happening] i really recommend this film. And there are some really nice touching moments in it too.I do have to say that i don't know what was different about this "special edition" 'version' - it seemed to be the same as the film i have watched so many times before. Maybe it was 'touched up'? i don't know.I loved watching it again

Saw this in the cinema in 1986/7 still love it, best of the franchise, followed closely by Alien…

Considering this a classic for many years after continuous viewings during University and afterwards, I decided to reacquaint myself with the entire series again. A great few years had passed between its theatrical release and now (2012 at time of writing) and sadly it has dated a little. Of course it was inevitable when the cgi of today's cinema is far superior even on a lower budget that a few cracks would appear. But also there were a few other issues with the narrative itself. Many consider this to be the pinnacle of the series. After viewing the original Alien again recently also it is clear that Ridley Scott made the better film and Cameron made a franchise.The model work is still excellent but does pall when compared to the quality of today's film. The acting talent are all excellent and work fantastically as an ensemble piece. The story is narratively viable and also works brilliantly, especially with the sci-fi conceit of elapsed time. The one thing that didn't work particularly well (and this is mirrored in the awful Alien vs Predator flicks) was that the aliens didn't seem particularly scary anymore. The haunted house feel of the original leant the film a far more creepy and suspenseful ambience. The gung-ho, shoot anything psyche of Cameron's roller-coaster drains the beasts of there terror.However, all in all it is a terrific film and well worth its now classic status. But in my opinion the far more thoughtfully made Alien would just pip this to the post were they to be in competition.

One of the best films ever made - great story, great acting, great dialogue, great sets, great atmosphere, great pacing. Along with Alien, they set a high bar for cinema - one that is rarely matched today. The special edition also really helps fill in some character and story development missing from the theatrical release and is a very worthy addition.

As the title says my favourite film been watching this for years somehow managed to lose my hardcopy so I thought I’d buy one off Amazon as everything seems to be online these days

A classic, no more needs to be said.

Great movie and looked great in 4k

This is a great version of aliens. My biggest concern with the previous versions was that it was incredibly grainy. This version fixes it and now the images look crisp and amazing. When I purchased the DVD, I immediately played it so that I could have an idea of how it looked, but I was so impressed, that before I realized that I had watched the entire movie, when I was only planning on watching the first 10 or 15 minutes to look at its video quality. That is how good it is. It doesn’t hurt that it is one of my favorite movies. Only in all, l wholeheartedly recommend this version of the movie.

Estoy sumamente sorprendido de la calidad de este bluray 4k, ya de por si la película es GENIAL, con este remasterizado, simplemente es imprescindible su adquisición.

Cameron did an amazing job with this. For an old movie, this 4k print was great to watch. Scenes were crisp and even the extra dark scenes (like outside of the colony habitats, large vehicles driving around etc) everything was clear, colour was well balanced and did not notice grain or upsampling artifacts. Special edition is also on this print!
