I recently installed the U-MAX Retractable Awning on my patio, and it’s been a total game-changer for outdoor living. The 13’x8’ size is ideal for my space, giving me just the right amount of shade without overwhelming the area. I love the neutral beige color, it matches perfectly with my backyard’s decor and adds a stylish touch.Installation was surprisingly straightforward, and once it was up, I was impressed with how easy it is to use. The crank handle lets me smoothly extend or retract the awning in seconds, so I can adjust the shade depending on the time of day or the weather. It’s really convenient to be able to control it without much effort.What I really appreciate is how well it holds up. The water-resistant polyester fabric has kept its shape even during light rain, and it’s stayed secure even when the wind picks up a little. It’s definitely built to last.Since putting it up, my patio has become way more comfortable. We’ve had a few backyard gatherings, and the awning keeps everyone cool and protected from the sun. The shade and hardware are very nice and shade works great. As most other users have said, instructions suck and are basically worthless after page 7! The posts, part U and V (plastic pipe nipple about 2" long) on page 3, need to be installed in the begining or you'll have to take it apart (Part C2) later to put these in. Instructions Page 7, item 6, is very vague on this step. Photo 3 below.My shade was installed at 103" tall, and when fully opened at 9'8" was 85" tall. There is some adjustment for height on this but again, instructions not clear and there doesnt seem to be much info on this! There is some info on page 13 of the instructions about mounting height, but if I followed the formula as per instructions I calculated I would need to install this at 131" tall to have an 84" height when opened. Installing it at 131" was not an option and I would not be able to reach the bottom of the wand to open and close! Had no choice but to lower it.On page 11, when you slide the arm bar links in and mount screws, leave them lose. The instructions tell you to leave about a 1/2" of space in between which makes no sense. The arm bar links have to be attached to arm bars before getting arm bar cloth bands. After attching arm bars to links, and cutting bands, mount the arm bars in 8" from the end and tighten. Photo 5 below. Very important!Once installed, and you open shade, dont panic if the end is not level. Turning the jack bolt, on page 17, on each end of the shade with raise or lower the front bar to level. Photo 7 below.Hope some of this may help some others!

I was able to assemble and mount over my balcony by myself in 2hrs from start to finish. Doesn't budget in the wind and canvas is equally strong. Looks fantastic and easy to extend or retract flush to house.

This took us about 8 hours total to put together. If you're not handy, don't get this item. It's very heavy will need 2 strong folks to put it up. It is nice and it does it's job.

Sometimes they make these instructions a little confusing with their pictures and steps. Looks good as the final product and wraps smoothly. I strongly suggest to makes sure you have the fabric as close to.lined up as possible. I had to unroll it all the way once I mounted it to get it lined up. Pain in the butt...anyway, this is reversible. I was looking for someone to have a comment about this so I figured I would add it. I posted two pictures of the mechanism. All you have to do is unscrew it and flip the bracket to change the side of the lever. Also, make sure both side of the pitch are close to equal, or your shade will be lopsided. This awning has been rained on and I don't see any water coming through. Fabric is thick and seems to hold up well against rain. For windy weather, I'd recommend rolling up the awning at least up to 2 feet or completely.

Actually easy instructions. However make sure when you add the extended arms you center on the main bar. Keep your brackets to the end of the bar, it is NOT explicit with these instructions. We will have to adjust the brackets and center the extenders core you on the main bar have 2 ladders, NOT a ladder and chair. And 2 strong people to hold up. However we live it to this point very strong and sturdy!! Absolutely worth the money!!

The media could not be loaded. When I received item it had a dent and the fabric has 4 cuts the bad thing it's that the cuts will get worse.

Beige 10x8 and 13x8 for a patio area which receives early morning sun and afternoon breezes. The wind was the reason I bought these but I installed them vertically, yes, up and down, to help block the wind. I will have to tie them in places to help hold them in higher winds but for the price, ease of raising and lowering I saved over $6000 a name brand installed vertical motorized sunscreen windscreen would have cost. Now I can use my gas grill even in windy conditions. Wife and I installed both today in less than 5 hours. Yes, we are handy. Instructions are not awful but could be much better. Ordering another 13 by 8 after I finish this review.
