Peugeot - Paris u'Select Manual Salt Mill - Adjustable Grinder - Beechwood, Natural

I love this new (well, new to me anyway) u-select technology they have in the most recent Peugeot mills. I would highly recommend getting the newer ones because they give you five course/fine choices and they work very well. You just twist the bottom section of the mill choosing one of the five levels. Try it out first on all five so that you will know what you like.Peugeot mills are sturdy, durable, made very well, and beautiful.I love the natural color for salt, and I have the chocolate one for my pepper. The 7" mills are the perfect size for me in that they fit in my hands nicely and they fit in my cabinet perfectly.In the past I had one of the lacquered ones and, while they are quite lovely, the lacquer chips fairly easily. I was not pleased with that so it is nice to have the choice of the wood without lacquer.Incidentally, as of this date, amazon has the wrong picture up for this item. I believe it is the five inch mill they are showing. See pics that I have loaded that show the one I received, which is the correct item for this model. As a side note, mine has a cute smiley face in the wood which I just love.

Dec 2023: I've the Peugeot Paris pepper grinder for years now. Has worked really well. Ordered the light one for salt. I expect the same type of qualify grinder for the coarse salt that I use for this grinder. I do recommend the product. Nice wood. Easy to use and refill with salt. Has ability to adjust the size of the salt when you grind.

I very much like the adjustable feature, so much easier than the usual unscrewing of the top nut - everyone can easily set their favorite when they use it. Important to note that the mill mechanism here is stainless steel, treated for use with salt; apparently most salt mills have ceramic parts to avoid corrosive effects of salt - for this reason you are warned NOT to use any of the damp sea-salts (even if dried out), but only dry mineral salt (such as pink himalayan, etc).

I like it so far! The different size salt grains are easy, although sometimes I grab the size switcher when grinding instead of the grinder part. The grinder is fine. It’s me. And I think it’s fun having a salt grinder made by a fancy car company. It’s my small claim to fancy - maybe the closest I’ll come to ever owning a Peugeot.

I usually don’t make reviews but I use this salt grinder every day and am constantly thinking about how disappointed I am with it. I truly wanted to love it. I was gifted the pepper grinder and was obsessed with it so I ordered the matching salt grinder and it just doesn’t work as well. I’m constantly checking to see if there’s salt in it because salt barely comes out. Adjusting the settings doesn’t make any difference either when it comes to grind quality. I might have just received a faulty version but it squeaks too whenever I twist the top, adjusting the little screw at the top doesn’t help the squeak either. For the price, I am really disappointed.

I saw this recommended in Wirecutter reviews, and the mill itself does not disappoint. Elegant, with a superior stainless steel grinding mechanism. The "U’SELECT" grind adjustment on the bottom of the mill is a HUGE improvement over mills that adjust via the top screw; much easier to get the grind you want, and much better about staying where it is set.I would have loved to give this excellent mill a 5-star rating. But according to the Amazon product listing, it was supposed to come "READY TO SEASON — Our mills come partially filled for immediate enjoyment. The Cristaux de sel blanc d'Allemagne is a dry white salt that comes from Germany, and is perfect for everyday cooking."That sounds great! But, sadly, my salt mill arrived empty. I paid for a premium, ready-to-use product loaded with a specialty salt. That is not what I received.

I get this Peugeot salt grinder for wedding gifts and everyone I have gifted them to (paired with the Pepper grinder by Peugeot) have loved them. Pair it with some nice grinding salt and pepper from "Penzeys Spices" in Wisconsin and you will have given them a gift that they will use everyday and will last a lifetime.I have had mine for more than 25 years and LOVE them!

Excelent Salt mill. It gives you the choice to select how fine you want the salt, the mechanism works perffectly it deffinetly matches my Peugeot pepper mill. Both are a super must in your table. As these are made out of wood, be carefull NOT to leave them standing in the kitchen's counter as the humudity in contact with the wooden bottom of the mill will destroy the device. Just bring them directly from your table to the cabinet. Many people claim that the mill is bad quality because they brake in the bottom but the problem is that many people don't know how to take care of this products. Don't leave them sitting in contact with humidity.Great mills, best mechanism in the globe.
