WiFi makes it very convenient
Bought this to replace a 15 year old Brownell Trail Cam. Amazing how inexpensive the tech is with these new ones. My old one was 12megapix and this one does up to 48mp shots. The daytime shots are excellent for most objects. People and animals come out very crisp. The small exception is with fast moving objects like vehicles, there is some fuzziness to where license plates are not read well. I suppose this is to be expected as the camera wasnt meant to capture moving cars. I was using this as a security camera in essence, for my side yard. The great thing is I could access the files wifi from inside my house (This was possible from an area of my home within 15 feet of the camera).Night shots were so-so. Compared to my other trail camera it was leaps and bounds better. But from my experience with any IR night photos, any movement at night causes blur, even on my high quality security cameras. These were significantly better than my old trail cam, but dont expect 4k crispness at night.I end up using this trail cam at the 32mp setting. I find that the highest few settings dont get too much more sharp than the 20mp one. I hear these cameras just use rendering to get the higher mp and the native resolutions are much lower. All in all, for the money, this is excellent. I would consider getting a couple more for my vacant land to "keep watch" over things. The wifi is convenient. It does take one or two attempts sometimes to connect to the app. Downloads are pretty fast when you are close to the unit. It is nice not having to remove the card to download photos. I just find the ones that are significant and choose them. The others, I can erase remotely. The wifi also makes changing settings easy from the phone app.I highly recommend this trail cam.

It works great for videoing wildlife at night
The media could not be loaded. We were having problems with deer eating our trees, berries and garden on our 1 acre lot. We needed to know where and how they were getting in, so I bought one of these cameras and used it in video mode to see when and where they were getting into the garden. Then I bought another one to check on their route in and out of the property. If my spouse let me, I'd buy 6 of them. No more guessing how old the deer poop is and whether that leaf was gone yesterday or not. With this camera you can see their faces. We got to know exactly who and what is in our yard at night (a lot more than I imagined!).The Good:-- They work! The motion detection seems to work well. Don't point it at a busy road if you value your batteries. It will pile up video after video...-- This camera works with an app for downloading and viewing the videos. Not all cameras have this feature, so buyer beware. Once the camera is connected to your device the first time, it is easy to reconnect. You can share from the app so there is never a need to remove the tiny memory card.-- The image quality is good if the target is say 8 to 50 feet away. Any closer and the image gets fuzzy. Any further and the IR illuminator doesn't reach. The Bad:-- The batteries that come with the camera don't last long. Don't buy this for the batteries.-- There is a temperature stamp on the video that's just plain wrong.-- Connecting and downloading videos takes a while. About a minute to connect and a minute per 20 sec video to download.-- I wish the IR illumination was a wider angle. The field of view is fairly narrow.-- There is a usb connection but it doesn't seem to do anything. I'd like to download to my laptop but the app only works on tablets and phones. So download to my ipad and email videos to myself. Not ideal. All in all I'm quite pleased. We now have a fence that works to keep the deer out, in part because we could monitor their behavior. And it's really interesting to see what all is out there at night.

Great camera for the price
Maybe not the greatest webcam but couldn't beat the price at less than $30. Let's be very clear. Wifi does NOT mean this can connect to your home Wifi - even if you installed it in your home next to your router. What it means is that the camera itself acts like a Wifi router that your phone can connect to so you can control camera functions and view/download/delete pictures and videos. The way it works is that when you get close to the camera (closer than the 66ft advertised), you open the app on you phone and have it connect. Your phone will first use Bluetooth to connect and tell the camera to wake up its Wifi. This is because the camera is not transmitting Wifi 24/7 or else your batteries will quickly die. Once Wifi wakes up, your phone connects. All of this is automatic but takes a minute or so to complete. Once connected, your phone can view what the camera sees, view photos/videos taken, and control camera functions. All of this can be done without your phone at the camera but your phone makes it much easier. While your phone is connected it will probably give you a warning that your Wifi (the camera Wifi) is not connected to the internet. This is normal because it isn't and will never be. Just select the use Cellular data option. Once you are away from the camera it will drop off the camera Wifi and connect to whatever other Wifi you use when you get in range.Info on the Amazon page was unclear but it does come with a 32GB SD card already inserted but no batteries. Comes with a strap and a fairly good mounting bracket that allows for range of aiming options. Instructions good about basic setup but very small print. Info about what each setting actually does is minimal but most trail cams have the same settings so i recommend you look online (Youtube) to get more detailed info about various settings. All but one setting can be managed by your cellphone. That setting is Fill LIght Distance and can only be set manually on the camera itself. No mention of this in the instructions. The cellphone app is easy to use and I highly recommend doing all of the preliminary setup at home - install app, connect to cam, test functions, name the camera, etc. Easy to install on a tree, either the strap or bracket. I recommend the bracket unless on public land that doesn't allow you to screw into trees. Just bring a cordless screwdriver, some better screws than what is provided and theAllen wrench provided. Speaking of which, consider replacing the Allen wrench screw with a hand knob to avoid having to bring the Allen wrench into the woods and possibly dropping and losing. A hand knob with M4 and 10mm thread will work. Hard to find in hardware stores but available online, to include Amazon. Strap installation is straight forward. To install the bracket, use your cordless screwdriver to mount the base plate. Install the rest of the bracket and screw the camera onto the bracket. Hopefully you already tested and did basic setup at home. Make sure you turn the camera on and close the door. Once the camera is mounted, connect your phone and look at the live image. Adjust the bracket to get the image you want and you're done. When you want to check your pictures or videos, just approach the camera, connect and view all on your phone. You can download whatever you want to your phone. You can delete or keep whatever you want on your camera - all from your phone. You can see the battery life on the camera meaning you won't have to actually touch the camera until you know it needs batteries. Like I said, not the greatest but the price is great.
