I'm heavily invested in the Creality ecosystem - 3 Endor3 networked with a Sonic pad for a small print farm and a K1. For several years I have used a DIY 3d scanner from a hacked old Xbox Kinect camera sensor. This entry level Creality 3d scanner puts my DIY 3d camera to shame. I am much, much more productive. Next up is a K2+ Combo/

Doesn't come close to the photogrammetry method of capturing items. Tried to use my iPhone and it failed terribly. Got a worm like effect that kept stretching the item, even if I kept the phone still... so not tracking well. It was a dirty cardboard box too, nothing shinny or tricky. The PC Software tracked better, but when you have the data, it becomes limited. I guess they tried to simply if for everyone but too much for me. The results were also not great looking. I would say it was 25% the resolution and realism I can get using photogrammetry and RealityCapture. When you go to "Uninstall" the regular way, it wont delete CrealityScan.exe found in Program Files X86 > Creality Scan > Resources > extraResources > backend > win32 > x64. This was having my CPU running 100% after I uninstalled the program. Garbage.

I've been 3D scanning since NextEngine came out, and 3D printing since before it was called that (ZCorp and Stratasys FDM).This little scanner, used correctly, can give very nice results. Imported into Rhino and Solidworks, and translated nicely into useful surfaces.I look forward to seeing what Creality does with the next versions. I've been a fan of their 3D printers for a while - again, they outdo their price points by far - so I'm hoping for a true pro grade scanner.The app has some annoying "consumer level" "Post to Facebook" type stuff that really doesn't belong in a pro scanner, and I wish it could be turned off on this one, but it's not annoying enough to warrant a ding on the review.Note the target dots on the scan I did in the picture - those are readily available and DO help when scanning large, shiny, dark objects. Buy bunches if you're scanning large stuff.I used mine wired to the phone (Galaxy S24 Ultra) but have not tried the wifi gateway yet.I'm happy with it. A good tool in my arsenal. Let's see what they come up with next. A true pro level scanner in the sub $2k range would make me happy.

I like it well enough, but it's not as useful as I had hoped it would be. If I knew then what I know now, I'd probably skip it for my use case.

Set up with computer and mobile app was extremely easy. only issue I'm having is for items that don't have a flat base, but overall this has been a pretty good and easy to use purchase. I'd recommend anyone who wants to get this to also buy a cheap and clear lazy Susan to help rotate whatever you're scanning.

Works very well, just need to get used to how it functions. Can easily scan with the smart phone and transfer to your computer later. Make sure to read the specs about using it with your computer, as it says, if you don't have a 3.0 usb, it will try to run as 2.0 which it usually won't do, or has issues doing. But it actually does do a pretty good job for the price point. Couple hundred dollars compared to others over a thousand dollars, you will have to expect a couple draw backs, but there aren't many. Especially with it being so Portable and it's own wifi bridge, and power supply.

So I've used other scanners in the past and have done some photogrammetry stuff and never been able to really get a good scan of my original Sega Dreamcast until now. I didn't have to use any anti-glare sprays or anything I was able to keep my console in its original form and it worked out pretty well. In the images, you can see how my scan turned out and then I put it in my 3D programs like Cinema 4D and Unreal Engine 5 and it looks great.
