Great Camera - An Honest Review
Great security camera. Night vision doesn't always work behind a screen - just turn it off, if you need to - you DO NOT need a subscription as some have indicated. You do have to deal with some add pop-ups - pay vs non pay subscription. With your mini disc, you can view history for up to 24 hours. If you need to save a video or picture, that can be saved either off or on the YI home app in your album - album doesn't categorize dates sp if you look for a pucture or video, you have to go through them - thus why I save on my phone and private Google photo account.I use two sided stickers - sewing dept at store - to attack to a window. You can adjust mic, motion detection - how sensitive you want it to be. It actually has a pretty decent motion detection range. I'm happy with the ones I've bought.Try it. Very easy set up.

Camera is awesome. Yi Home app is trash.
Camera is awesome. Yi Home app is trash. I have an iPhone mounted on my desk dedicated to continuously displaying the Yi 2K camera feed displaying my front porch and driveway approach. They have made software updates over the past few months that force me to reinstall the Yi Home app on my iPhone every few days to regain functionality. When first installed it streams my camera feed perfectly but over time the Live camera feed lags and sometimes freezes for up to a minute and then sluices quickly through time to catch up to current time. If inconsistent display of the Live camera feed isn't bad enough - eventually the app crashes. If I restart the app and attempt to reconnect to my 2K camera the software hangs for approx. 20-30 seconds before it connects to the camera (if it connects). Once it crashes it crashes more and more often. After several crashes if I restart the Yi Home app it will no longer connect to the camera and one time it froze my iPhone so hard that it required power cycling. I have tried power cycling both the camera and iPhone (at the same time) and the connectivity issue persists (until I delete and reinstall the app). My iPhone is in perfect working order. The camera is functional because when the app is hosed on my desk mounted iPhone I can connect to it without issue from my other iPhone that isn't continuously displaying the camera feed. I have tried dropping to SD quality feed with no change in behavior. My WiFi is strong and the camera is only about 20 feet and 1 stud and drywall wall away from the wireless router. My iPhone is in the same room as the router about 9 feet apart. The camera is mounted inside my front window so heat/cold/rain are not an issue. After much experimentation and cursing the *only* thing that fixes the issue is to completely delete and reinstall the Yi Home app, log back into my Yi account and it works flawlessly for a couple of days then eventually declines into crashy non-connectivity mode until I delete and reinstall the app (yet again). Is the software not proactively cleaning up it's cache that app deletion takes care of? I wonder if I had an Android phone if clearing the app cache would fix the issue but with iPhones the only way to accomplish cache deletion is to delete the app. Why can't the app remember my email address making logging back into the app less burdensome? Is the app queuing up ads and exhausting the resources required to consistently stream the camera feed and deleting the app clears the ads? IDK but I need it to be stable - without human intervention.Since when is having to reinstall a security app every few days an acceptable solution? I want the version of the software prior to late 2024 when it did not have this issue. This is the third model of Yi camera I have owned for 1+ year and nothing about my setup is new. This camera was purchased as a necessary security device that I depend on but the developers at Yi seem more concerned with ad revenue generation and pushing their (based on other reviewers' opinion - crappy) cloud service than app stability. I'm seriously looking at scrapping this setup and going with Tapo cameras which would integrate nicely with my Kasa Smart switches in a single application. I would have absolutely recommended Yi cameras 4+ months ago but now my advice is to stay far far away.

Great cameras
Love these cameras, I have 9 of them. There was another company that made outdoor camera covers for them and I have several but they are hard to find now I wish Yi would make some covers for them for the outdoors other than that the cameras work great. You can use them with there cloud service which is kind of expensive or you can use them with SD cards up to 64gb I believe.

Good budget friendly/user friendly cameras
Great cameras for the price. Had some issue with one having a purplish hue for a bit but I googled the solutions and after multiple attempts it worked. Easy to set up, I recommend buying SD cards and 24/7 run time to capture and keep footage if you need it. Wish it came in black!

Can't handle the sunshine...
I bought this camera to replace an older model from the same company. The old was was amazing. I have it in my garage because I work in my basement and I use it when someone knocks or drives into the driveway. I could see cars driving by on the road, which is about 100 feel away. The new camera is fine close up and maybe has better resolution, but it really can't see outside the garage. Its all a white glow. So if that is your need, be prepared.

Recommend these!
These cameras are awesome. We did add cameras in a different location so we thought we had to set up a new account however that is not the case. You can add cameras to account and can share one, some or all cameras with other family members. They are somewhat easy to set up and the view is very clear. We had arlo cameras and they were constantly going off line. These are wonderful.
