Peaks & troughs
The spectrum is often expressed as wavenumbers, especially in spectroscopy. Wave numbers are the recipricol of wavelength, and has units cm (power-1 ). That's why they're the peaks are also called troughs. Expected peaks are 3300 cm (power -1) and 1450 as same units, One being a hydroxyl alcohol group, the other a benzene ring. I can't remember which is which.
