Best 27” QHD IPS monitor at this price point
This is a newer model, and because of that I can’t speak for its longevity, but I am hoping with the Dell/Alienware brand behind it, that it will last a very long time.It was ultimately down to this monitor and the LG 27GP850-b. That monitor is probably the most popular gaming monitor at this price point, and it was between that, and the new AW2724dm, which this review is for.In my opinion, this new Alienware takes the crown from the LG. It was released a few months ago, and you get more for your money. Both are very similar, the two biggest differences is that this monitor has certified HDR600, whereas the LG has only HDR400, which is very lackluster, and personally I wouldn’t even consider using it while gaming. The HDR600 definitely makes things look better in all the games I play, and gets rid of IPS darkness in games like COD, which you will have without HDR activated. The HDR600 does not make games look washed out like the LG does with HDR400. For movies, HDR600 is not the best on paper, but I only use it for games, so I am not going to give an opinion on that. The one thing the LG has that this monitor does not, is BFI, which is suppose to help with motion blur. For an IPS panel, the Alienware already has near perfect motion blur, better than the LG according to most reviews. Also BFI is a feature in gaming that I find useless, because you cannot have VRR(gsync/freesync) on at the same time as BFI. VRR is essential because it will cut down input lag by half in some cases, when compared to using Vsync. In every game I’ve played, the VRR is like having Vsync completely off(way less input lag), with all of the benefits of having it on(no screen tearing). This monitor also has very accurate colors out of the box, according to every review I read. Unless you do professional work, you will not have to mess with the colors. Simply set the color profile to “colorspace”. Every other color profile is very “cool”, with a bluish tint out of the box, including the one that is set by default, so be sure to change this right away. You don’t really have to worry about this in HDR mode, all of the profiles look fine, just while in SDR.Before buying this monitor, a few reviews mentioned fuzzy text, which made me very hesitant, however with amazons return policy I went ahead with the purchase. I am glad I did, I have not seen clearer text on any other 1440p monitor. Both the black and grey uniformity are also near perfect for an IPS monitor, and no noticble IPS glow at all. Maybe I just got really lucky in the “panel lottery”, but I am beyond happy with this monitor.

Dead pixel and Non Existent Customer Support
After reading all the other reviews I knew I'd have a high chance to have a dead pixel or some other defect. Unfortunately I was right and my monitor has a bad pixel.. I bought 2 of these for prime day, the other monitor seems fine. Also HDR seems borderline unusable as a graphic designer since it desaturates all colorsEdit 7/24/2024:Alienware doesn't have any customer support through Amazon so your only real option is to deal with Amazon customer support. I contacted them due to the defective monitor with a dead pixel and they told me to "just get a refund and purchase the monitor again." Which means I'll have to pay the difference of the prime day discount I received. I was able to convince them to imitate a replacement which was supposed to arrive 2 days ago after initiating the replacement 5 days ago. The date I'm supposed to get the monitor changed twice and now if I don't get it by tomorrow they'll "refund" my replacement whatever that means.I knew Alienware products were extremely risky due to the defective issues bad QA but didn't think it'd be this bad. There's a Samsung alternative to this monitor that's also cheaper for the same specs. Don't get any of these monitors unless you want to do a run around with refunds, replacements, defective products.Edit 7/31/2024:My replacement monitor never arrived and decided not to do a return as I've been seeing a lot of people having issues with the refunds. As I spend more time with these 2 monitors I've been noticing more issues, both monitors constantly flicker which can get pretty nauseating. The monitors have a very inconsistent color range too. I honestly regret getting these 2 monitors and will never purchase from Alienware again and will be the last time I purchase something expensive through Amazon.

Excellent
This 27-inch Alienware AW2724DM QHD monitor is an excellent addition to my aging Windows 10 computer. While sold as a used item, there was zero indication that it was previously used, returned, or even opened. In every aspect, this was a brand new monitor. For less than $200 for this awesome monitor, I couldn't be happier.

Perfect design butt
Perfect only some dead pixels (4) for now but is new I don't expect that, so that's the only complain .

Worth 6 stars...the BEST 27" monitor under $350
Apparently there is a new line of Alienware monitors that will be released next month, and there are now DEEP discounts on this fantastic monitor-which can be had for under $200.Wal-Mart is selling the same monitor for close to $350-and it is worth every penny of that price-but at under $200, this is as close to a steal as you are going to get.The display is bright and very sharp. Important to me is that the stand is very adjustable allowing easy swivel and tilt-in addition to raising the height. Other monitors have fixed heights which may preclude them from being used in tight spaces-such as mine, as can be seen in the picture. The only 'downside' is that at native resolution (2560x1440) the icons and font size shrinks compared to a 24 inch monitor with a lower resolution. This is easily fixed in settings, but at the same time it is nice to be able to have panoramic views of wide spreadsheets etc.

Great monitor, great deal
Great monitor for the price. I have not used it for gaming, only as an extra monitor for work. Clear picture, great colors, nice customization features in the menu. Plus I got a sticker!!! Perfect size and worked well with my existing monitor arm. Would definitely buy another one if I had the money. It was a steal for $179. Might not be an OLED monitor, but it has all the things I need and a 3 year warranty.
