Not photochromatic
I live in Florida so there is sunshine and a lot of it. I put these on the dash of the truck to test the darkening of the lenses. They were in direct sun and there was no change in the coloring of the lenses. The ability to read is good. I selected the 3.0 lens. As that is the same that I use for my regular readers. They are not grossly expensive, but sure push the lenses darkening in the sun.

Good Pair of Progressive Reading Glasses - Transition Lenses That Darken in the Sun
The YIMI Photochromic Progressive Multifocus Reading Glasses are an excellent pair of readers to help you better see small print. I am far-sighted and my close-up vision is still reasonably good although not perfect. I can't say much about the higher magnifications, but the 1x magnification lenses worked well for my needs. The glasses are simple but well made and I found that I was able to see the fonts on my phone more clearly when using them. They are definitely progressive lenses - the bottom half of the lenses make it easier to read the small fonts while the upper half of the lenses allow me to see far away without too much distortion. The lenses are large enough for me to see pages without having to shift my gaze much and I liked how the lenses are also transition lenses so they get darker when exposed to the sun. The transition of these lenses is very impressive - they go from clear to darkened almost instantaneously and when removed from the sun they go back to clear within a minute or two. The only thing I don't like about these glasses is the flatness of the lenses and the overall shape of the frames. They're definitely not very flattering to wear, but because they work quite well, I will likely use them until I find a more attractive frame. At ~$30 per pair, they are a bit expensive, but worth it if you want progressive and transition lenses and don't mind the flat lenses with boxy-looking design frames.

Nice Frames - Progressive Lens Works Great - Photochromic
I am need help with both distance and close up, but not with mid distance such as computer screen. I wanted something I could use at the computer to allow me to easily read small print and the computer without having to peer over the top of glasses.Having had trouble with progressive lenses from the optician previously I thought I might have similar issues with these (feeling nauseous etc) but these work extremely well for me. They are absolutely perfect, they fit well, the lens arrangement works for my intended use (reading small printed matter at the computer). The fact they are photochromic is a big plus too. I'm sure I will be using these when I need to read outside in the sun too.The frames are of very high quality, along the lines of the cheaper end of the range from your optician. The frames fit me well and are sturdy and I like how they look. They come with a nice semi-rigid zippered case. They may not work for everyone but for me they are perfect.
