He loves Rubio cubes and I figured this would be something different. He solved it in less then 5 minutes the first time. It does work and is pretty tough as it has hit the floor and been kicked a few times.

This is a fantastic budget cube! I don't have much to compare it to, but I do have one other megaminx and this blows it away. I love the fact that it's stickerless, which my old one is not, and this one also has ridges around each piece that make it very easy to turn. Great design feature!!! Being able to turn the faces with one finger really make a huge difference when solving for speed. The corners are also slightly rounded so it can be turned even if the adjacent faces are slightly misaligned and it pushes itself into alignment, that is also key. I don't know if it's the best, but maybe with some lubrication and a proper tension setup, it seems like it could be adjusted to suit anyone's needs since all of the nice design features are there. It's not catching or locking up, and the pieces are snug with no fear of falling apart. For a puzzle that is not too expensive, I'm super impressed with the quality and very happy with it. I have never really been that good with Rubik's Cubes before. It's not for lack of trying either. I have always been fascinated with those that can solve them in seconds, while I take significantly longer. It shocked my family when I ordered this pentagonal cube to torture myself with. I still think I'm going to give it a try because unlike my earlier Rubik's Cubes, this one spins easier, and seems to be better built overall as well with rounded edges. It comes with an instruction sheet to help solve it. I have also seen plenty of videos online which offer tutorials on solving them as well. I am soon to be in need of those though as I have blindly handed this cube over to my dad who has been gleefully rubbing his hands together to scramble it up for me.

The megaminx came open and with a bunch of scratches.

This is a complex puzzle, and it's pretty easy to turn. It does come with printed instructions, but the print is very small and hard to read. You can find tutorials on YouTube. Pay no attention to other reviews that state the puzzle is stickerless, in fact the colors are stickers instead of molded into the plastic, so some people may be tempted to remove the stickers and reapply for a quick fix. If you look at my photos you can see clearly they are colored stickers. Overall it's a very nice puzzle for the price.

Speed cube has a specific meaning, a cube with rounded edges used for competition or at least fast turning. I doubt you could even make a speed cube that's 12 sided. Perhaps they call them speed cubes because they can't refer to the official brand name.Nonetheless this is fun, the most interesting cube I've tried thus far. It does turn fairly easily. Quality seems fine, average. I have no idea how to solve it. It does come with a tiny instruction sheet, but I'll probably look for video tutorials.
