The best window air conditioner I've ever purchased
Love how quiet it is, and how low in the window it is.I'm writing to this to let people know of a modification they can make to it. With a philips head screwdriver you can remove the rear cover, feed the flexible condensate eject tube through the slots in that cover, and replace the cover. You have routed the tubing out of the enclosure so the condensate is ejected externally. Now place that tube into a larger PVC drain and have the water run out away from the house. No more algae and rust, and especially useful if you are placing the unit where a porch is underneath it, like me. Keeps it dry.

Very good
Love it. Cools my room fast. Love that it doesn't take my window view away.

NOT HAPPY
UPDATE 2: It is now Sept. 30th and am constantly getting the " P1 " code. having to drain the front pump all the time is really starting to irk me. I know full well it is going to cost me to have someone come out to repair it let alone them having to remove it from the window to do so. I really thought I was on to something when I found the pink slime on the filter. It no longer gets that but the cleaning only lasted a few days before i had the code again. Now sometimes it stops more than once per day. NEVER will I buy from GE again. It is apparently going to be the pump that needs replaced on a 3 month old A/C.Bought his during the heatwave to replace a 7 year old same BTU A/C.My brother installed it from inside and didn't seem to struggle with it ( by himself ). I can't lift anything due to health issue, but he came over to install it for me. I helped by having everything ready for him so he didn't have to read and scramble for the parts and insulation stuff.I feel a lot safer with this unit on the grounds, that it sits below the window sill and allows an exit point in case of emergency. Also the fact, we can look out our window now with ease.I would like to point out, there is a side filter which needs to come out on the left side, so the unit can not be installed against the wall. You will need some space between it, That was exactly my concern when reading the instructions and care booklet. I have a wall right next to the window, but we were able to move the A/C over a little to the right instead of centering it in the window, and it gave me enough space to remove the filter when needed.UPDATE: I started getting a " P1 " code and unit would shut down. In the troubleshooting section of the manual, it says to clean the front side drain filter. So I did, and drained the front. I got about 16oz of water out of it. I need to note, there was some type of pinkish slime on the filter, I cannot imagine any water flowing through the filter with it being coated with this stuff. I took it to the kitchen sink and cleaned it with dish detergent and then soaked it for 5 minutes, rinsing it off afterwards. Reinstalled and am now waiting to see what happens. Not very happy as this is barely 3 months after purchase.

Installation and venting
I bought this 12,000 BTU to cool my living & dining room based on mfg recommended for sq ft. I'm truly impressed with how quiet (even on high setting), this AC is. However, I gave it 4 stars because I felt both the video and written instructions made the install take longer than necessary. They have you meaure the still, stretch the AC apart and then you're suppose to secure that position in place by using 4 screws (that'd you'd previously removed to allow you to expand AC). Easy peasey except, what do you do if there's no visible holes that line up to screw into once you've achieved your desired expansion? GE needs to tell folks that if you can't find the holes, just continue to stretch AC until they come into view and use those. Yes, your saddle will be wider than necessary but it doesn't matter as the exterior screws that go against your house will support the AC regardless of how wide or narrow your window sill is. Also, I'd omit from the video (not sure if it's in written directions), the placing of the foam holding tracks on top of the AC. I think it was to assist in measuring but it really wasn't necessary and actually was a cause for confusion. Once in, it looks good and operates great. For me, there was one big disappointment The air vents only go up and down. Unfortunately, I don't have a window directly in the middle of my living room and my dining area is off to the right. Having the option to vent to the right would hugely enhance the speed and even-ness of the cool airflow in between both rooms. Frustrated, I ultimately, created a makeshift vent that, while not visually great, does the trick. Now, I come in, blast the AC on high to get both rooms in balance quickly and then lower to eco to maintain. I can't comment on wi-fi remote use as I haven't set it up.

Very Quiet and Efficient
This AC is probably 2x more expensive than similar models but I absolutely love the low profile design allowing me to still see through most of the window. Setup is a bit more involved for this one than just dropping in a standard window AC, but a huge advantage of this one is that is does a much better job of sealing the area around the AC than a standard unit. I'd say a normal AC would take maybe 10-15 min to set up and this one was a little closer to 45 due to the need to measure and cut the side inserts. The AC is super quiet and cools my 140(ish) square ft office in no time (which it should because it's rated for a much bigger room). For me it was well worth the extra cost!
