I was persuaded to make some replacement wardrobe doors for my son's house. I chose to build a frame and clad it in MDF panels. My inclination was to use mitred dowel joints for the frame but I wasn't sure I'd be able to tension them up adequately as I didn't have mitre clamps that were big enough. Pocket hole joints, I reasoned, would be tensioned by the screws.The jig made everything a breeze. It was so simple to make professional-looking joints that were absolutely accurate. It's just a shame that the fool who then assembled them made such a hash of assembly (not the fault of the jig - just the user!)Still, the MDF panels covered a multitude of sins and, now the doors are up, they work well and look pretty good.

I've been joining pieces of wood together using this technique for over 60 years; long before pocket hole jigs were invented. This is not something that I would normally have admitted to, being a rather quick and dirty bodgey way of doing joinery. However, using a jig seemed worth a try. It is very popular on YouTube. I was shocked by the prices of, mostly plastic, jigs made by well known names. So I bought this HOWOD jig. It's well made and works really well. I'm a convert.

I bought this to help build cabinets/cupboards and it worked really well on 15mm material. 12mm will just about work but no thinner than that, which is a shame. With thicker materials it's very quick and easy to use, giving strong joints very quickly.

Nicely machined and extremely easy to use item. The scales are clearly marked making setup quick and very easy.. Minor niggles are so easy to overcome that they can be sorted in seconds. The stop collar on the bit may be a bit too tight initially. One or two passes with a round file and it’s perfect. Personally I would prefer this than having something too sloppy out of the box. Similarily, on initial use, the drill bit is a very close fit in the pillar sleeves. I would recommend using the hold down screws and ensuring the drill reaches speed while inserted BEFORE it’s plunged into the workpiece. When joining 38mm wood with 64mm screws the screw point, in some circumstances, may emerge slightly. If this happens, simply slide the stop collar 2mm toward the point of the drill and it’s sorted.The clamp works well and the ability to remove the drill guide for portable use is great. I bought this to replace a Trend PH jig which had no height adjustment. This compared very favourably and was cheaper while representing a considerable upgrade. The packaging was great but seems, to me, a bit excessive as once assembled the unit will not fit into the carefully engineered foam recesses in the sturdy box. The dust collection port works really well. It all but eliminated dust during a recent cabinet build. I was wary, buying this product as the reviews all seemed to be from the USA with no feedback from UK users. However, I’m happy to report that, thus far, I am very impressed and it has exceeded my expectations.

This is a perfect jig. It’s really well made, strong materials and has been really useful while cabinet making for the Campervan

I started off with a small jig but was frustrated that I could not clamp it hard enough to stop it moving. Also it was plastic and the drill bit widened the hole in time so it was time for an upgrade. I so wish I had opted for this first time round. It is very well made, and so easy to use. I have clamped it to a workbench and it held the panel perfectly for an accurate hole. I even forgot to make a hole in the side of a cupboard and just clamped it straight on the side and it did not move one jot. Saved me taking the blooming thing apart again.Adjustments are easy and the whole thing is metal so no unexpected shavings. Def recommend to anyone and everyone

I ordered this with a 30% reduction but even at full price this is a qualty tool, so recommend to buy as its all metal construction makes it a very proffessional tool.
