I purchased this rail when I was being released from the hospital after having hip repair surgery due to a fall. I couldn't get in or out of bed by myself for a few weeks, nor could I turn over by myself during that time.This rail, as my review caption says, has been a life saver! My husband said it was very easy to put together and it slides so far under the mattress that it doesn't need to be tied onto it. The actual rail has a soft coating on top so it's not cold or slippery. There is an attachment with small pockets. I put my cell phone in it, as well as whatever book I was reading at the time.It is extremely sturdy. I had no problem or trepidation grabbing the rail with my full weight to get up out of bed, get into bed, or turn around. This is an excellent item and I highly recommend it for anyone who needs a bed rail, whether it's for temporary or permanent use.

My husband uses a walker but had a recent fall. We added the bedrails to our bed to give him more stability when not using the walker. He says these are very helpful. The only consideration would be mattress height, which I never even thought of. Our mattress is 16" high, so we had to flip the rails for them to be useful. They are very sturdy this way for us, but of course each person should check their set-up.

easy to install and assemble. im 30 weeks pregnant and this helps me get out of bed. i zip tied it to my metal frame since i dont have a box spring but its still secure.

I had to buy someone a very low bed frame that was only three inches high. Because of that I needed to find a new side rail. The benefit of this model is that there are no legs that go to the floor. The previous setup had a side rail with legs that went down to the floor, but those legs could only be adjusted so much. It's more support to have legs, but this works and better than nothing.

I bought this for my 84 year old father, who is still in great shape, but is a little unsteady when getting up out of bed in the morning (or at night to visit the restroom) and I was nervous he would fall. He'd been using a walker to grab onto, but there is nothing to stabilize it, and I wanted to something he could grab and hold onto if he lost his balance. Initially we mounted this near his head on the side of the bed, but he found it interfered with his CPAP and reaching his nightstand/alarm clock/light, so we moved down near the foot of the bed and he really likes being able to grab it as he stands. It's bottom bars go under the mattress (between the boxspring and mattress) and it has a locking strap to ensure it will not shift or move. It's very sturdy, adjustable and has a couple of small pockets for things, he'll stash his glass in them when he goes to bed at night. This is a great little gadget for helping to stabilize, without the hassle of a full size rail.
