Fun little toy! Great for young kids.
This thing is fun for pool play. They can set it to dive, wait a minute and go after it. Run it on top with boats. It’s a manually set elevator-fin. Buy two and try to dive them to run into each other under water. (that sorta thing). A little big for a bathtub really but that’s alright. More made for fun in the sun and promoting imagination. Can be for Early learning basics of hydrodynamics. I’m very happy with the purchase. I bought for my nephew last year and I’ll be picking one up for my daughter for next summer. Great gift idea too. Go for it. They have fun with it. The engine is just a separate little battery containing device too, so it’s not part of the whole toy. A twist activates it and turns it off. It’s waterproof but can also be separated to clean/dry/ replace batteries. For homes more northern…. Remember to remove battery after summer. Replace at beginning. To avoid corrosion damage. Or just toss it and get a replacement engine. Whatever the whole toy is what 10-20 bucks? They’ll get the moneys worth of fun out of it any way you slice it. Have fun!!!

Buoyancy Problems
I purchased the 8831 version of the sub. The build quality isn't the greatest. For example, the detachable motor/propeller unit's connection to the underside of the sub is wobbly and doesn't have a secure "locked in place" feel to it. There were also runs in the silver paint on the sub's upper half. But, the main problem is the sub's buoyancy. If you don't allow the sub to fill with water, it will travel on the water surface only a small distance before tipping sideways. Fair enough; it's a submarine. However, if you hold the sub underwater until water fills the inner cavity, it then does a nosedive straight to the bottom where it rests motionless with the propeller unable to budge it. Partially filling it, holding it underwater and releasing it just results in it bobbing to the surface in a very unsublike manner. Ideally, it should be neutrally buoyant or just slightly positively buoyant when filled with water.I'm giving the sub three stars instead of one because I think I can make an easy alteration to make it neutrally buoyant.

Fun but light
Ordered this for my nephew for Christmas as it was on his list. It’s light as air and seems like cheap plastic - but it worked well in the tub & he was super happy! I feel like based on the apparent quality it should be priced around $10-12.

Overpriced
These submarines are made extremely cheap considering the price of them. Not very impressive honestly considering 1 of them had the propeller broke off the back when it showed up.

My 6 year old wanted to write a review
I loved it a lot.it was fun and cool. I like the top of it and I like the name but I think my mom deserves something and I thank her for ordering it for me. I just got it today. I tested it out. It was very fun. It took us a minute to find out how it worked underwater. I enjoy it a lot. This is great. Would recommend ordering it.

It's a nice toy
It's a nice toy but you have to push it under the water. So, it will fill half way with water and than after the bath you have to turn it up side down to drain the toy.
