Simple yet effective
Back when milk was cheaper, I used to make cheese all the time. To drain it I cobbled together some odd hardware and kitchen equipment which did the job. But about a year ago I had an opportunity to get this and test it. It was very easy and very effective. So effective that my farmers cheese was a little too dry and I had to add back a little half and half. And I used probably 10% of the effort my makeshift system required. The effective pressing and the ease of use really impressed me and makes cheese making quite a bit easier.

Sturdy & Easy To Use - Works Very Well, Too
Needing a hobby, I have chosen to looking into cheese making. I had previously already made paneer, which turned out fantastic, so I am expanding my horizons. This excellent cheese press is to help with that horizon expansion.I have already used this cheese press twice. Last night, I used it to press tofu for a stir fry dinner. It worked very very well, and the tofu came out perfectly. I can attest that 1/2 of a paver brick (4 x 4 x 2) exactly fits on top of this cheese press, providing some weight, but more importantly providing a solid surface for applying additional weight. I used a full 1 gallon can of paint, and that was the perfect amount of weight. (Wash your brick paver well with soap and water, rinse thoroughly, then place in an oven at 350 F for 30 minutes to get rid of any germs, bacteria or insects.) Wrap you paver piece with plastic wrap to make cleaning it easy after use.Earlier today, I made Feta cheese for the first time. I had already purchased all the ingredients needed, so it was just the making of it that I needed to do. It went very well, and after hanging the curds, they too went into this cheese press. 4 hours later, perfect Feta cheese was made! (Well, it needed to be brined after that, but that's another story.)I appreciate the quality that went into making of this cheese press. It works very well, is easy to clean both before and after use, and absorbs no smells or odors. It is heavy-duty enough to have a large amount of weight pressing down on it. I appreciate the workmanship of this cheese press and can highly recommend it.

Works good
Great size for 2 gallons of milk . Holes in the bottom weren't fully opened and even after trying to clear them out there are rough spots. But overall a good cheese mold.

A large, tall cheese mold
This mold is on the bottom left of the cheese press in my photo, sitting beside one of the two cheese molds that came with the press, so you can compare size. These products are both from the same company. I'm glad to have this fine big mold with follower piston as part of my new cheesemaking arsenal.

Can be used for more than just one task in the kitchen.
I’m really anxious to use this to make cheese, but while I’m waiting for the ingredients to arrive, I used it for a whole different kind of great food. I enjoy making and eating home made sausage. One of my favorites, chorizo, needs to be drained. What could make a better draining tool than this cheese press! Chorizo dried as I hoped it would and it’s really good. A second use for a kitchen item. Who could ask for more?

glad to try this out.
Was glad for the opportunity to review this cheese mold. My oldest child has been dairy-free and gluten free for 10 years due to autism w/leaky gut syndrome and my daughter only tolerates goat milk, so we need a variety of cheese molds to prevent cross-contamination with casein. This is a little smaller than my other pressed cheese mold, but not too small. Haven't decided yet if we will use it for goat cheeses or vegan "cheeses".

Works good for beginners
A lot of time is invested into cheese making and I personally don't want to make a 5 pound wheel of cheese just to find out I did something wrong. So this cheese mold allows me to make a 2 pound wheel of cheese and experiment with different recipes. I do think the follower should be a little bigger, but if I have cheese cloth around the curd it fits better.
