Are these ok for a 2016 c class mercedes? a mechanic friend says they need to be camber? (not sure what that is)

Yes this will be fine for your Mercedes C Class, we supply lots of Mercedes dealerships trade. I think your mechanic means they need to be CANBUS compatible but this isn't needed for the rear and we can supply an interface for the front if you wanted to get a front kit. Can I use with a tow bar

Yes the sensors don't see tow bars because they are so close to the car they fall in a blind spot which the sensors don't see as they have an angle of 60 degrees. See here for more information and some examples http://www.parkingsensors.co.uk/page/towbar-parking-sensors

Is there any problems in fitting these to a Citroen Xsara?

I haven't got a Xsara, but I fitted them to my Peugeot 207 without any problems. You will have to get under the rear bumper to direct the cables so it is not allowed to droop down onto the road I use tiewraps to hold it to any available piece of the bumper support and then you have to locate the +ive cable to the reversing light I use a RED scotchlok to attach that to the +ive cable. The longest part of the job is usually removing/fitting the interior trim panels to get access to the reversing light cluster. Dolphin are good quality items too.
