Excellent low cost fountain pen with suprisingly solid construction.
Purchased these pens as I read a review that stated that the Jinhao 80s were remarkably good daily writers with a similar build and design as a Lamy 2000.Upon arrival, I noted that this SET was nicely packaged and came with 2 convertors. I purchased the extra fine nib as I have noted with my other Jinhao pens that the nibs tend to be wider than is advertised. The extra fine nib compares pretty evenly to my Lamy fine nib pens. Once inked up, the pen started easily and wrote nice with consistent ink flow.Compared to my other Lamy pens, it is noticiably lighter, the lightest fountain pens that I own. This can be problematic as I like a pen that I can feel. If you like a very light pen, you will probably really enjoy this low cost fountain pen. At the end of the day, this writes nice enough to bring to the office everyday without the worry about someone walking off with it.

Quality control is a problem
I got the 2 pieces set. EF nib.Pros:- Fantastically smooth!- Light weight. Easy to control.- The pen feels good. Anti-slippery.This means that I can write a long time without feeling tired. Writing gets addictive.Cons:- Quality control is a huge problem. I purchased the 2 PCS set. One of them gets the nib miss aligned. The nib turns out to be extremely hard to adjust. I tried to fix it by myself but failed. The other works just fantastic! It is a lottery. If you receive a malfunctioned one, simply return it and do not try to fix it, which will make the same mistake I did.- The finish is ok. I agree that the plastic finish is far away from lamy safari for example, but still ok to me. Plus, partly because it is black, it does not look cheap.

Writes Beautifully!
I like to carry a cheap fountain pen with me all the time. I have more expensive ones but I usually don’t carry for fear of damage. These pens are so nice! The nib is precise and ink flows perfectly! They come with a converter that was easy to fill. The cap secures well and posts. Great size, hand feel and weight. Well worth the money! I bought 2 more!

Amazing value
I have purchased five of these, all in different colors. They are a amazing values. Jinhao pens today are far, far better than just five years ago. I use they as daily writers when I travel so I don't risk more expensive pens. The one downside with most Jinaho pens (and Chinese pens, in general) is the available nib sizes. However, Lamy Safari nibs fit the Jinhao 80. The Lamy 1.1 stub fitted to one of my Jinhao 80 pen writes really well, not too wet, not too dry. I've also fitted a Lamy B to another 80, agian with good results. One could argue that Jinhao mostly reverse engineered the Lamy 2000 (which I also own) and is not the most ethical strategy. True, but I don't think a sub$10 pen is a competitor for a $200 pen.

Cheap, Lightweight Plastic
I ordered a fountain pen for around this same price and it was much heavier, better quality material. The only thing is, I wanted a finer point. I ordered from this company (shorter shipping time) foolishly thinking the quality would be similar since the prices are similar. It very much is not. You can really tell the difference just looking at them in person. The tip looks fine, I'm sure it'll write fine. I just opened it and felt disappointed by the outside being plastic and the lack of weight the pen has.

Super smooth writer - awesome fountain pen
My pen writes so smooth - I was truly amazed ... I purchased the 2 set and sent the all black one to a pen friend ... I kept the black pen with silver clip. This is a lot of fountain pen for the money. I have over 100 fountain pens and some that cost a lot more than this one don't write this well. Not only that but I have seen other more experienced fountain pen people take the nib off and replace with other Lamy style nibs in broader sizes which I have not yet been able to take my nib off but I carefully keep trying because I do prefer a Broad nib. But if it won't come off this is one of the very smoothest fine nibs I've written with ... just as good as the Lamy F nibs in my Safari's. I don't think you can go wrong with this fountain pen. The converter is much easier to take care of than a piston filler and this is an elegant writer which is more comfortable to grip than the Lamy 2000.

Good writer, a fixable mechanical problem.
This pen is a very good writer in the F nib.The one I got has a cylinder at the base of the body that the section screws into. It was not glued into the body, and just fell out with the section. I took a match-head sized piece of HandiTAK and wrapped it around the piece, then pushed it back in. This took care of the problem. If you have epoxy or CA glue around it would probably work, too.Other than that problem, I find the texture and look of the pen excellent, but had to take off a star for having to repair the pen on arrival.

These are very good pens
I did not expect much for such a low-cost pen, but I was pleasantly surprised! They work great out of the "box". Feels well-made and writes nicely.
