1 quart is 4 cups. This is 9.3 cups or slightly over 2 quarts.

Does the popcorn taste more like air popped popcorn or like microwave popcorn?

I’d say air popped although it’s been a while since I’ve had specifically air-popped popcorn. You can toss it in oil/butter, etc. once it’s popped to create whatever flavor you desire. I like it, but FYI if you fill the cap as suggested, I find you get more popcorn than the bowl can contain.

bought a new inverter microwave and cannot get this to pop. What is going on?

Are you saying the popcorn isn't popping or you can't get the bowl to pop open? I assume the 1st one. I'm not sure what the problem is. I put it on high heat for a minimum of 2 min. However, I set the timer for 2 min & 30 sec. Unfortunately, there's quite a bit of the popcorn that still doesn't pop. Good luck.
