Brabantia New Icon Step Trash Can (8 Gal/Matt Black) Soft Closing Kitchen Garbage/Recycling Can with Removable Bucket

Was shipped solely in company box with more than adequate packing material within to preserve the lid from denting (which I've read others have had a problem with). The can is very quiet, though not completely, and does not shift about when used unless one was to really kick down on the pedal. Aesthetically it is sleek, cool, and unobtrusive.

I replaced a 16 year old Brabatania with this. The original had a metal inner lining with a removable handle. I was very concerned that the bag (I don't use their brand) wouldn't stay up without that handle, but after a week of use, I'm comfortable with letting the trash collector take away the boxes from the new one and take the old one. I'm only giving 4 stars because I didn't have a lot of heavy items - I hope I don't regret it. I had no issue with dents in the outer can - it was double boxed. I love the quiet close feature, but don't like that the top doesn't stay open all the way unless I step on the pedal - not always convenient. I like the idea of a plastic inner pail - easier to wash than the metal one that eventually rusted and stained.*UPDATE: I’ve had this for awhile now so I’ve had plenty of time to use this. I love it. Plastic bags stay put by tucking it in between the inner and outer pails, but it’s wise to check occasionally if you throw in heavier items. I have the black and use black bags — so totally user error!

I loved the black trash can and wanted one in green for recycling. After a month of waiting, I was told it was out of stock and that I can re-order it for $47 more than the original price, which I did because the availability of the green-color can is limited and I may never get it. It is very bad business to sell the same can at a higher price just because it is a different color. As people get more creative in home decor, stainless steel, black and white are not the only colors they use. So wake up Brabantia and Amazon UK, and stop fleecing your customers.

Its a very nice garbage can and matches our room decor perfectly. It's actually a perfect fit. It seems to be very high quality also.

Purchased it because it was recommended by Wirecutter. Horrible, cheap, low quality item. It broke after less than two months, simply because I pulled out a trash bag and the ring broke, using just gentle force. Now it fails to properly close no matter what I do.

I honestly love this trash can. There’s nothing else to say. I use it for my tattoo studio and I love the slow closing lid.
