Best One I Have Tried
Over the past few years I have tried several of these. None have worked as well as the 2022 version of this device, which linked up more quickly and more reliably than other similar devices. The only problem was a lag in phone conversations, generally around 4-5 seconds. The ad for this 2023 version promised to be faster, so I decided to give it a try. This 2023 version is just as reliable, and link up speed is even faster than before. There is sometimes still a noticeable lag in phone conversations, but it is much shorter, from 0-2 seconds, And some conversations are quite normal. Overall I would say that Ottocast has outdone the previous model, which was already better than the others.UPDATE #2: I previously reported that the 2023 Ottocast was dropping its bluetooth connection to my phone. I did some more testing and found the problem to be a defective cable connecting the Ottocast to my car (USB-C to USB-A). The bluetooth connection dropped every time I repositioned the cable. I was able to use the cable from my 2022 Ottocast, and voila! no more connection drops. So the 2023 is not defective, just the cable that shipped with it. I messaged Ottocast that I will restore my 5-star rating if they ship me a new USB-C to USB-A cable. Haven't heard back yet.Update #3 - I just received the replacement cable from Ottocast. Very fast response, great customer service. This unit continues to outperform the 2022 Ottocast, which had already outperformed four others that I have tried. As promised, I have upgraded their rating to 5 stars. No one can be expected to test every cable that they include in their products. If you find your cable is affected when jarred, then ask for a new one.

Meets expectations
My 2015 Mustang came with "Sync," a poor substitute for Apple CarPlay. It never interpreted a single voice command correctly. I would rent cars of every stripe and color that came with CarPlay. Why couldn't I get the features of a system that far exceeded my Ford Sync? I purchased a Kenwood DMX7706S from Best Buy and had it installed. This was supposed to be one of the top-rated double DIN head units. It integrated reasonably well with all of the expected features of my original head unit: climate control, a full set of gauges, and tire pressure, but CarPlay could only take place via a USB cable. Bummer. So the real Answer: OTTOCast U-2 Air and never looked back. First, it's tiny, It supports Bluetooth and WiFi. Paired instantly with my iPhone 13. You plug in a very short suppled USB and put it into the concole. No other cables are required. As soon as you power up the ignition, your iPhone is fully functional. My head unit defaultas to the CarPlay stock screen. Wish I had purchased an OTTOcast solution long ago,.

Very good but not Perfect
The Ottocast U2 Air is a very good wireless Car Play adapter. I found it to be largely Plug and Play as far as installation and performance are concerned. I use it with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. It isn't completely perfect unfortunately, and although connection with my iPhone generally takes place quickly, unless I have opened an App such as Waze or Google Maps or Apple Music on my phone first, the Vehicle Screen shows a blank outline of where the CarPlay screen should be. The Home Screen on my Vehicle shows that Car Play is available but the screen doesn't show anything. This is generally sorted out by starting one of the relevant Apps on my phone and then Car Play works perfectly. A small hassle but I am happy that it largely works very well.

Used this device on a road trip from Minnesota to Quebec City.
Used this device on a road trip from Minnesota to Quebec City Canada and thats north of Vermont / New Hampshire. Hate leaving my phone plugged in all the time because it destroys cell phone batteries and thats why I bought this. The device worked flawlessly. This is a great investment. Works right way with the infotainment deal in my Silverado when I start my truck. This is a great device if you love using technology and you don’t want to fry your phone batteries on long trips. Cheaper than wrecking you phone battery because that’s what is happening when it’s plugged in all the time.

One of the most disappointing purchases I’ve ever made
This was not only a terrible purchase, it’s become a liability and safety hazard. It worked great for everything other than phone calls when I first got it (with the occasional hiccup); now, it won’t even stay connected. The unit randomly started disconnecting one day, and after searching for help online, I saw that I likely needed to update the firmware. Went to the company website, installed the update, and boom, everything is 10x worse. Nothing syncs properly, sound is way off, phone calls have seconds long delays, etc. So after more searching online, it looks like I need to “restore to factory settings.” Okay, done. Now the unit won’t even connect. Next step? Remove the device from WiFi and Bluetooth, then set it up from scratch. No problem. But now we’re back to the original issue where it keeps disconnecting every 5 min during my drive. This is extremely dangerous and distracting, especially when trying to use Maps or play any kind of media (e.g., a podcast).I submitted a ticket through the website and after over 2 weeks, still haven’t heard back from Ottocast. Don’t buy this device, and don’t buy from this brand.

It works
I set it up today and everything worked. When you pair it with your bluetooth it asks you to verify a code, there’s no way to verify the code with the device so just select yes. After connecting it a few seconds went by and it was reading “not connected” on my phone screen. However, it was still playing carplay. I looked at my wifi and it was saying not connected either. So I shut the key off and opened the door to turn the head unit off. Turned it back on and it started up on carplay still playing my music. I looked at my bluetooth and wifi connections and both said not connected. Idk what is going on with that, but I tested it several times and it works. I tested text messaging and phone calls and that worked as well. I set it up in a 2016 Silverado.
