Great addition to my original “Four Star” set…
Great addition to my original “Zwilling Four Star” set. I was using serrated steak knives for years so bought some cheaper Henkels Statement knives to add to my set about 6 months ago. They seemed to work ok but couldn’t get past the way they were tearing the meat. I decided to bite the bullet and get these Four Star steak knives to match my original set that I’ve had for 30 years. My only regret is that I waited so long as these cut like a hot knife through butter and “cleanly” (no more tearing). My only issue, if you could call it an issue, is that the handles are a little thinner than my others in the set.

Great knives
Truth be told my parents have had these knives since I was a kid. I sincerely do not think there is a better steak knife out there in looks or utility. I love them.

Like a hot Knife Through Butter
We have owned the J.A. Henckels 4-star knife set for many years, but have always relied on cheap steak knives to use during dinner. I finally decided to bite the bullet and order 2 sets of 4-star steak knives to go along with our set. We received one set today and I decided that in celebration of receiving one of the two sets, we would have steak for dinner tonight. I was a little apprehensive since I've never used a non-serrated knife to cut a steak. I figured that was the standard. But more on that later.I subscribe to the Alton Brown/Emeril/Every other chef in the world theory on cooking steak - room temperature steak, salt, and pepper. That goes into a seasoned cast iron skillet heated to 400 degrees and set on a burner on high to sear the outside, then back in the oven to finish the inside. So, the steaks always come out really juicy and tender....Back to dinner... After cooking the steaks, letting them rest, then plating them my fiancee and I were completely surprised by how well the knives cut through the steak. It was seriously like a hot knife through butter. As I said earlier, I have always used a serrated knife for steak, but these knives cut through the steak better and with more ease than any knife I have ever used. I am really happy with my purchase.In response to the other reviewers that had QC issues, I don't know what to tell you, I have owned 4-star knives by J.A. Henckels for over 15 years and have never had a problem like you describe. The only thing I could assume is that you washed them in the dishwasher or you got a defect... It happens, no company is ever perfect. But I wouldn't let that deter me from continuing to use their knives, especially if they replaced it.

Good but expensive
These knives are made of the same high quality hardened stainless steel use on all Henckels premium knives. Since there are usually used on hard porcelin, stoneware or other china plates, they keep their edge very well. I do not sharpen these knives as often as our other Henckels kitchen knives because they do not need to be quite as sharp for dining. I recently bought this set for my daughter who was spoiled using these knives during all the years she lived with us. Now that she is married and on her own, she requested these for Christmas. The knives are well made and like ours, should last the better part of a lifetime.
