Good Story. Espionage, Mystery, Political Strategy, & Trust.
Having suffering Combat PTSD myself, I found it hard to get through paragraphs of Yangchen suffering from dreams of trauma and failings that her past Avatars have been through. I had to put the book down for weeks because it caused me to wander into my own trauma. I know I had to continue reading despite my PTSD because the Avatar Universe has always provided therapeutic enjoyment for me.Gradually easing myself into reading “The Dawn of Yangchen”, it was good and bad that the story did not go into depth or in length with Yangchen’s past life trauma. This would have been good or bad to explore, but I get it’s something that may not get resolved, but something you attempt to manage. Of course, I get this topic may not be age appropriate or distressing for some.Well anyways, the Story in itself shows another side of an Avatar. It explores the pressure a young girl has to contend with as a prime force that has the responsibility to guide the world into balance. She has to be shrewd & cunning when dealing with Nation Politics against adults who would attempt to manipulate and look down on her. Despite this, Yangchen is always respectful. The story in itself has elements of Mystery, Espionage, and Political Strategy. There was not a lot of Bending Battles and instead of the “Power of Friendship”, Yangchen had few she trusted and seemed to prefer to do things on her own. Not many can relate to this personality type. Which probably led the story to emphasize development of accessory characters. Good Story, looking forward to reading more. Lots to explore with one of the most respected Avatars in the Avatar Bending Universe. Thank You.

A great start
I love this book. It's a great beginning to a two part series on Yangchen the air avatar before Aang. It's interesting to see who Yangchen actually was rather than who we think she is from the show.

Great read
Great read for fans of Avatar: The Last Air Bender. It is hardbound and I enjoyed reading it. I'm hoping that the author will consider doing other past avatar's stories.

Captivating
I was not as captivated as I was with the novels about Kyoshi; that is why I did not make much time to read the book the first time. As soon as I progressed, my perception changed and I truly enjoyed the story.

Great Gift
My brother loves the Kyoshi novels and so I got him this for Christmas. He was really excited about it so I expect to hear good things in the near future. His friend recommended I buy this one for him!

Fantastic addition to the Avatarverse
I've read all of the comics and books thus far from the Avatarverse, watched both ATLA and LoK, and have loved all of it. This wasn't as dark as I was expecting after learning what we did about Kuruk and Kyoshi in the Kyoshi novels, but there are some truly fascinating details that really expands on things about the Avatar themselves, as well as the politics involved in the stories. Don't want to give anymore details away because it gets into spoiler territory.
