So Expensive, But Worth Every Penny
I've ridden MTB on multiple continents and used my phone for SatNav for over 10 years, covering more than 50,000 miles. At one point, I even powered my phone off a dynamo hub! Initially, I rigged up my own holder with industrial Velcro. But then QuadLock came along, and I made the switch. QuadLock is great, but when you're trying to ride and grab a quick photo, or just get going in a hurry, it's always hit or miss as to whether you align it correctly. Though it was a very rare occurence overall, I've dropped the phone a couple of times, thinking it was locked in when it wasn't. QuadLock is great and also quite expensive (but nothing like Peak Design!). However, the little frustrations with using QuadLock never went away. So, upon seeing the Peak Design system—with its instant lock and low-profile case—I had to give it a try. It works so well that sometimes I just connect and disconnect it for the fun of it! I'm thrilled with how much easier it is. You still need to make sure it's locked, and I wish there was a more audible click to know for sure, but it only takes a split second to mount and confirm. Plus, no twisting, on or off! And although the case only saves a couple of millimeters, it makes my current Samsung S22+ feel like it's half the size! It's going to be quite expensive to set up Peak Design mounts on my other bikes and to utilize their other accessories. But it'll be worth it, and I'll be selling my QuadLock mounts to help fund the PD investment.QuadLock, don't be too upset; I acquired a lot of products over the years and was very happy with such great items. But it's just not Peak Design anymore.
