Refractory Satanite 4.5 Pounds for Ceramic Blanket Lining 3200 Degree Mortar

Recently bought a smelting furnace and it didn't come with Rigidizer or Refractory cement so to Amazon I went and well, to be frank? This stuff has been incredibly worth every penny I spent. Very easy to mix - just add a little water until you get the desired consistency you want. I used two bags for this to line the lid and inside of the furnace and using both my hand and a cheap paintbrush I was able to get a consistent layer of the cement across the inside of the furnace and it has held up very well across multiple smelting's, and even one accidental molten spill that was easy to clean up once the metal was peeled away, surprisingly the cement didn't even peel off with the metal and remained firmly attached to the wool without any notable cracks or peeling.Well worth my time and money, and a recommendation for anyone who needs it.

It did it's job but it didn't cover as much area as expected. Works well but cracks a lot even when done the way the instructions say. Looking back probably needed 2 bags.

This refractory is what comes standard with the Mr. Hero 1 and 2 burner forges. It is easy to mix and has very good mixing directions included. It is spreads like frosting on a cake and sticks to a paint brush. I used a plastic automotive bondo scraper to apply it to the wool blanket and that worked much better for me and with less waste. Make sure you follow to curing directions to the tee to prevent cracking of the refractory and having to repeat the process sooner than later. Overall product does what it says.

We live in the mountains off grid and bought this for our forge. It worked great. Please don't laugh at my pic of a dinner fork I made ( my husband is very frugal and will not let me buy utensils ), so this one works for dinner and for weeds in my vegetable garden!
