Definitely worth a try -- works great for me!
I'm glad I gave this a shot, despite the mixed reviews. For me, this works great. I am a (AFAB) woman with an average-sized mouth (I can't fit my fist in there), and while this mouthguard felt a bit weird to start, I got used to it and was able to fall asleep pretty quickly. I think the trick is that when you're molding the guard, you need to press up hard with your tongue on the inside part, and suck really hard (ahem) at the same time, to get it shaped correctly. The mouthguard is large, but it's still smaller than the big full-mouth guards I'm accustomed to. I personally didn't run into a choking issue, nor a problem with my tongue being compressed. While wearing it, my mouth tends to hang open a bit to compensate.I haven't been wearing it very long. I'll update if I run into any issues, but for now I'm pretty impressed. It's a clever solution to my back teeth clenching together and destroying other mouth guards in a matter of weeks.

This works!
I have dealt with the side effects of clenching and grinding teeth for many years. I paid multiple hundreds of dollars in a dentist's office (not covered by insurance) for a device smaller and more rigid than this one. It worked, but it also misaligned my upper front teeth. Fixing that was expensive, too. But I had to have it because it instantly stopped the severe neck, shoulder, and head pain that clenching and grinding causes. When that device finally wore out, I looked for a less expensive solution. I read every review before I bought dentist's choice. Then I gave it a try. I would rate this a 10 if I could. I would recommend that you gather all supplies before you get ready to mold this device. It is also helpful to read the instructions twice and have an extra pair of hands to help you because the details matter for getting it right. Several reviews said they had trouble getting the device to mold because it was too thick. I did not have this problem. Several reviews said it is too big. I have a smaller mouth size, and I do not have this problem. It is perfect for me, it works beautifully, and it is not moving my teeth around. I will be buying 2 more soon to have as backup in case it goes out of stock. That's how severe my issue is and how good this product is. I cannot go one night without a guard. By the way, a guard that goes over all the teeth and still allows the back molars to touch will not stop your clenching and grinding. In fact, it may make it worse. I highly recommend you try this device. It works considerably better than much more expensive ones. And good luck!

Can't close my mouth
Even after shaping (which doesn't totally work) it's way too big. I can't close my lips over it, and the back part shoves my tongue back. There's no way i could fall asleep with it in. Not worth the money or effort at all.

The most useful guard I have found for my biting/grinding/clenching
I have a tic that causes me to grind and clench my teeth all the time. Ultimately, I really like this guard- Because it does not cover my molars, I don't end up chewing on it in my sleep like i do other guards (I was chewing and grinding through other guards In about 5 days, and the stress was changing my bite). I do "test" it a bit when it's in my mouth, as I have to use it onn and off all day and night, but in general I dont have the need to really chew hard so I dont hurt my teeth or change their placement. There is another almost identical guard for sale for about 10 bucks more- I have not tried that one, but they certianly look the same. The areas that I am a little frustrated about:1) Because I'm a mouth fiddler, the hole in the bottom where it attaches to the plastic piece for heating and molding drives me nuts. I fiddle with it constantly with my tongue and give myself tongue sores. If you are neurotypical and not bothered by things like that it would not be a problem.i could not come up with a solution to that (I tried a hot glue gun to melt the area but that definitely did not work- don't try that!)2) I had a really hard time getting the bottom part to melt enough that it could be molded. I tried multiple times with boiling water and trying to get that thick bottom section melted without the top thinner section rolling or folding was difficult. Eventually I gave up and am currently using it in a "good enough" capacity.3) I feel like it's a bit large for my mouth, which is admittedly rather small. No biggie, but it's a thing.

Every-body is different; didn't work for me
I know dentists designed this, but for me, it didn't work. It fitted to my teeth nicely (worked on the first boil), but the part behind your top teeth is huge and clunky. It goes 1/2" back! This forces the tongue into a compressed position, which made it hard for me to breathe. I've recently found "Mewing" - look up Dr. John Mew (father) and his son Dr. Mike Mew who are orthodontists and practice Orthotropics - on YouTube. They claim that correct tongue positioning and pressure can fix everything from a bad bite to a receding jaw and improve facial features - a big claim - but as far as the tongue positioning practice, I instantly see that my nose-breathing is much better. My night-clenching is due to stress + dental work that ruined my bit even worse than before, so I'm hesitant to seek orthodontic treatment. This thing felt like a brick in my mouth and I just couldn't sleep at all.

IT WORKS!
I have all the issues, clenching, grinding, and sliding my lower jaw forward. I apply so much pressure, I broke the roots of two molars. A full bite guard does not work as it is uncomfortable. THIS BITE GUARD WORKS! I was skeptical at first.. it seemed thick and bulky. I did have to resoften it a second time to get the fit on the upper palate to tighten. It was a little bulky along the bottom, but I got use to it the first night. I can wake up without jaw pain. Relief!
