My water pressure had dropped dramatically, and could be fully restored by activating the bypass valve on my softener. Also, when I ran some hot water from my heater (using the drain tap at the bottom of the heater) there were resin "fines" in the water. All of this told me that the softener resin had broken down (it was 8% cross-linked resin, about 8 years old). I needed 1 cu ft of new resin. The most popular one was 8% cross-linked, for about $60. Shipping was about $30, and a funnel was about $15. So, total of about $105. This LiquGen resin was a little bit more expensive, but it was 10% cross-linked so (hopefully) it won't break down into fines quite so quickly. I ordered two 0.5 cu ft, so I paid about $133, but that included shipping and funnel. BTW, whichever resin you decide to buy, be sure to get a funnel - it makes life MUCH easier.I received a 1 cu ft bag of 10% (rather than the two 0.5 cu ft bags). After removing the old resin using a shop vac, I added this new (gold-colored) resin with the aid of the funnel (and a clean bucket, which allowed me to move smaller amounts of resin - the 1 cu ft bag is very heavy when full, and you do not want to spill this stuff all over the floor). Then I put new O-rings (bought separately) on the top distributor. Everything went well. Photo of test strips shows the end result - outdoor faucet shows that our mains water is very hard, but water indoors is pretty much as soft as it can get....

As you will see in the ad, there is suppose to be a funnel. I am pasting part of the advertising sale item. This product does not have the 10% cross-linked resin it claims, so it will breaks down easily. Customer service never answered the phone or returns calls. Save yourself some time and money by purchasing a name brand such as Purolite.

I am giving this 5 Stars because it works fine. After I changed out the resin, I have soft water again.I couldn't find anyone to do this for less than $600. FYI you could probably buy a new system for this much.This is not an easy job, but not too difficult either.

Replaced my 10+ year old resin with this. My water's not really that much softer, but I think that's a combination of water hardness and head settings. It was just a stop-gap until I can replace the whole softener system.

It was easy to use to refill my softener tank, no issues. Ended up with a little left over, as I needed just under 1 CF (two bags) for my tank.Works well and I expect the higher cross-linkage to help with my iron contamination issues in the water (I hope for better longevity of the media).

I ordered this product, it arrived quickly , which I am quite happy. I tested it on my aquarium tank by putting the resin in a filter bag and placing the bag in my aquarium filter. The hardness did come down a little bit overnight, however my three gourami fishes start getting sick and sink to the bottom. I quickly moved them to a small tank , but one of them didn't make it and died. Maybe there is some chemical in the resin which is toxic to the fish, however that raises a question to me, is it safe to human, since we use it to soften water and might drink from it. Can anyone give me a answer ?

Item arrived as described. Driver was part of distribution area and was familiar with water softener. Very helpful in providing help and assistance to properly set up unit.
