Good Brushes - Good Value
Why did I wait so long to use Mops (Quills) Using wide flats, mostly synthetic sable before These seem to hold more water, and because of the soft synthetic squirrel there is an ease of use in being able to put paint over dry watercolor without as much disturbance in below layers. I find that the points for a large brush are very fine ( especially on the smaller of the two) but you do need very sensitive control of pressure, since the brushes are so soft. These are a great value and as all Quills take a little learning, since they hold a lot of water, and are very sensitive to pressure. The results are well worth it. Using them a lot.

Amazing value
Great brush and a great value. Works as well as my $$$ brand. Lots of water pickup and still has a great point. The size 6 is way bigger than the usual round brush size 6. Closer in sizt to a round size 12.

Great brushes
The brushes are excellent quality. I've had no hair shedding. They hold loads of water and keep their shape. Great for nice wide strokes and fine detailing. Very happy with my purchase. Great price too.

Game changer for a loose/impressionist style
I have learned that it is better to go up in brush size and decided to give these quills a try because all I have are smaller rounds and a 3/4” wash. I am blown away with how much easier they are to paint loosely with. They are so soft and supple and trees looked instantly better and were a lot easier than with my stiffer more expensive brushes. With the #2 quill my jaw dropped with how easy it was to make realistic tree trunks and branches that only get smaller as you go up and out. This has been a struggle with my aqua elite rounds and rigger which are much smaller than these quills. I’m not saying these are better than the Princetons - just a different tool, sometimes you need a stiffer more accurate brush, other times more free flowing. You want something that holds more water and paint all the time (these do!). They are very soft and make working with delicate washes very easy.My only complaint, and the reason why I docked a star, is because I do not like the handles. At this price point it is acceptable and arguably still a 5-star brush simply because it is 100% high quality where it matters the most. What I like about more expensive brushes is the handles are grippier, confidence inspiring, and have a nicer balanced weight to them. The handles also feel a bit short - but that may not be a bad thing because I plan on traveling with these.Another thing to note these are smaller than other brand’s equivalent #6 quills. This is probably closer to a #4 quill from Princeton. Also, do not get these confused with Round brush sizing (2,4,6,8, etc). Quills are much much larger. I paint smaller (10x7”) and often times splitting the page into quarters and doing small studies and the size of these brushes is perfect. I cannot recommend these enough!

Love these!
I wanted one of these quill brushes but the brand I was interested was just too high of a price point for a brush I wasn't sure I'd like. Seeing this set I figured I'd splurge and if I loved it and wanted to upgrade to the more expensive brand I could. I will not be upgrading. Not because I didn't like the brushes but because they are so great I don't need to! I haven't used the smaller one a whole lot but I am IN LOVE with the big one! It hold so much paint that I can use it for large washes or just keep painting away without refilling often. Really nice for large areas when time is of the essence getting those beautiful watercolor blends! The other thing is the point of this big ol' brush is super sharp and holds well so I can use the same brush for big washes and then go into little details with it! So versatile! I love, love, love it for doing tree branches because I can go from fat to thin in one stroke and never run out of paint no matter how long that branch is. I cannot tell you just how much I love this brush. It has become one of my main work horses.

Nice affordable brushes for watercolor
For a relatively affordable brush, these are really nice. They hold a lot of water/paint and the shape is great for washes and for details.

Love them!
It is always a risk to purchase inexpensive, or moderately priced watercolor brushes. These were recommended to me for a good mop brush at an affordable price. I braced myself to be disappointed and for them to fall apart before I got any decent use out of them, but I was WRONG! Yay! 😁My brushes are holding up well and are doing a great job. You might have difficulty if you are used to working with squirrel or some other fancy brushes, but I have been quite pleased for my moderate use. I use them mostly for applying washes, or any time I need to apply a lot of water quickly. They also work well as a thirsty brush to pick up large sections of color.Based on my experience with these brushes I would definitely be willing to try other brushes in the brand.
