Like the headline says.... do NOT buy a feeder that has plastic or silicone in them for a base or a substantiating element. If you have birds that will eat the seeds from this?... you probably have squirrels too... and the squirrels will destroy this thing and make it unusable. I bought a different Eva Solo feeder years ago that has a big plastic base and the squirrels destroyed that. I called Eva Solo to ask if I could buy a replacement base and they told me that the design was fine and that I needed to buy another one. I won't even bother with this one. I will just machine a new base out of steel and retrofit it. So.... Eva Solo items are awesome otherwise... I have a ton of them... but I would SOOOOO totally not advise you to buy this unless it's for a birdcage for your bird and you KNOW that no squirrels will ever touch it. It looks beautiful.... but it will only last about 10 minutes after the squirrels find it. Sucks...... :(

The design is awesome, but absolutely not functional. If you buy, get ready for a huge mess. The feed is too heavy for the bottom to stay in the glass tube and it will spill everywhere.

Great design and fits very well with my Midcentury modern house.

I really wanted to like this. I have had a few other Eva Solo feeders (sadly, the squirrel dispatched with the last one.)The problem I have is not with the sturdiness--it hold plenty of bird seed easily, BUT the birdseed gets sticky and the the rubber gets clogged. Birds generally avoid this.I may try to move it to a different location or try different birdseed, but for now, I remain disappointed.
