For a lowcost unlocked smartphone, it has survived a number of trials that others failed and continues to do its job.
Has all the basic features as a backup phone, but much more usable than my last one. Took it on a cruise, and because it was unlocked, I put in a prepaid SIM for low cost connectivity while out of the country. Able to use as a hot spot for my other phones to work on wireless for less than paying for their service. Accidentally dropped it in the Caribbean while at the beach, and dried it off with the hair dryer in my cabin a couple of hours later. Wouldn't boot for four days, but then it dried out enough and continues to work more than a week later with no signs of trouble. Also good on battery life. Better camera, sound and touch display that my last lowcost smartphone.

Perfect for my 12-year old and her PureTalk line.
I bought this as a present for my daughter's 12th birthday. She wanted a smartphone but I was not ready to buy her an expensive one nor do I want to. This Alcatel phone is perfect.1. Cannot beat the price.2. Works like any smartphone. You are able to download a lot of apps. It is a touch-screen. So, you can swipe to the right to go over the apps.3. It shows AT and T for the software but I did not have any problem just transferring the Pure Talk SIM card. I didn't even have to call them or reprogram anything. It just works even if my plan had no data.4. My daughter just uses wifi internet at home for her phone.5. Perfect size for the hand.

Misleading product specifications
I am giving this product one star because of the apparent misleading information included in the product description. The description claims that the phone has 8GB of storage "8Gb (5.6gb user)". This is not only misleading information but misrepresentation. When checking the storage configuration the phone shows Total space of 3.93 GB which means this phone has only 4GB of storage and not 8GB. The preloaded apps take about 1.5GB and the user is left with about 2GB of storage for contacts, additional apps etc. I purchased two of these phones one form JTS Wireless and the second from Nexecom. I bought these phones for temporary use overseas and they are fine as backup phones. There is enough functionality, the speed is decent and the storage adequate for a few pictures additional apps, contacts etc.July 10, 2017 Update> In addition to the above comments and after using both phones for a month I found that they drop calls randomly. It appears that the transmitter stops working for some reason since I can hear the other side but they cannot hear me. Following this scenario the screen is OFF not allowing any action. Unfortunately there is no zero star rating and I have to stick to the one star

Basic smartphone, doesn't connect to T-mobile data
I got this phone because I needed to replace a spare phone that we have on our T-Mobile account. I just switched sim cards and it worked, the only thing is that it said it was not compatible with my data plan which I thought was strange because I previously had a flip phone that worked with the data plan. Doesn't matter though because I didn't want my kids surfing the web on this phone anyways. Wi-fi can be used with this phone, so you can connect to home wi-fi or I connected on a free wireless network like at the library or MCD.The call quality has been clear and no dropped calls, text come through fine. The camera is terrible, very low quality and grainy.Overall, it is a decent phone for the price and what I wanted it for.

A few important details
A few important details:1. The phone is described as new, and it's probably new, BUT it came in a package that was opened and then taped close. According to the box and the documentation, this is originally AT&T go phone, and I guess they had to open it to unlock.2. There is still a lot of AT&T stuff on the phone that you can't delete.3. They claim it has 8GB storage, but don't expect to be able to access most of it. If you go to Settings and select Storage, it states following: Total space: 3.95GB; Available: 3.05GB. Fortunately, I don't really need a lot of storage.4. It is pretty thick for a new phone, and has a screen that is longer but narrower comparing to most other phones of the same size.5. It accepts Micro SIM cards.6. It makes short vibrations every time your call is connected and disconnected, which is pretty annoying. If anyone knows how to turn it off, please let me know by adding your comment to this review - thank you!I had no problems during activation.

Happy with the purchase.
Everything worked as expected. Good for the price. I rooted it so I could got rid of all the AT&T system apps which in my country (Costa Rica) are completely useless and definitely needs more memory, because it only has like 3. something gb free for apps. So I had this 8gb sd mem which I format 50/50 so I could move apps from internal to the sd "system" partition... and now I am happy with it. With the battery saver option it really could last me for 2 days which is very good nowdays. Cell arrived on time. I am happy with the purchase.

Short battery life. Does not have some sensor(s) that are commonly found in other smart phones.
It was a fairly inexpensive phone that I bought for a vacation in a foreign country. It came unlocked as advertised. I was able to use a SIM card I purchased in that country. But the battery life was short. I don't think I used apps excessively, yet I could barely get through the day on a full charge. Even though I only wanted a basic phone, it is still a smart phone. Yet, I was not able to run some common apps because the phone does not have some sensors that are common on many smart phones. I'm not sure if it was a compass (magnetometer) or accelerometer that was missing, but I was not able to run an app that shows the night sky based on where you point the phone. I also was not able to use flashlight apps that light up the camera LED. All they could do was light up the main screen, which is a poor substitute for lighting your way along a dark path at night.
