Great for costumes or for older kids to pretend battle
First off, the seller is fantastic and isnready to respond if you have any issue with your order. I had placed my order for one shield, but immediately after I placed the order, my husband recommended I get a second one so our kid could have another one to share for when he plays with his friends. I couldn't cancel/update the order through Amazon, so I contacted the seller to let them know I wanted to add a second item to the order, and they quickly cancelled my initial order so I could make the new order. They responded so quickly, in fact, that the initial order never even posted to my credit card. Now for the shield itself. It is plastic, quite thin, and it is a decent size, even for adults to use as part of a costume. My kid and his friends are rather rough when they "battle" each other, and one of the shields did chip, but it is still quite usable, and now has added character.I would recommend the Viking shields sold from HalloweenCostumes on Amazon.

Worth it
First of all, yes, it is not thick at all. It is very flimsy. Second, it actually is a decent size across the shield face and easy to paint. All in all, it went very well with my Renassaince Festival costume.

A bit hard to paint but doable
My husband wanted to turn our daughter's crib into a Viking ship. So we did. These are made of plastic and have simulated wood grooves. Makes it a bit hard to paint but after four or 5 coats of acrylic and a baby safe sealer, they are good to go. They are a bit pricey for they are kind of flimsy quality but they get the job done. You can probably achieve the same thing with wood but we decided this was a bit faster.

at a good price. Not suitable for larp or more serious ...
Mine is warped and efforts to straighten have not worked. It looks alright and is light for carry by smaller or weaker folk. Photographs well and could be for costume use or kids play, at a good price. Not suitable for larp or more serious cosplay.

Better than expected
The value it's a good one for this type of product and the material that is made of. It's very comfy to hold and it's weight very lightly. Recommended 💯% clfor cosplay.

Thin cheap plastic all of them will be slightly bent
Junk junk junk cheap thin plastic all of them will come bent and cannot be fixed , but prob looks ok in photos and from far away, size and color is good too . But don't buy unless they lower the price by half.

Flimsy and don't last
The arm straps broke within 10 minutes of my kids playing with them. I wish the product images had shown how the arm straps attached because then I wouldn't have wasted my money. One of the shields actually cracked through on one side. They would look cool if they worked, though.

Truth about shields
So, i finally get a say. Yes, this is plastic. No, it isn't that flimsy. True, the word wooden needs to have fake or " " on it, but IF people can read descriptions you clearly can read it says plastic. This is a good basic shield you can paint and use for cosplay and medieval faires...or in my case, my knights of honor to carry for my wedding. The only issue i had is i had to pay high price for shipping so i could guarantee they would be here for the wedding.
