Great product no matter what the price is
Didn't know what to expect with such a low price, but an incredible sound. We are a local band that needed an 18inch sub and this filled the bill and the room. Highly recommended

Far superior to Rockville for the same price
I purchased a similar sub from Rockville based on reviews, thinking I was getting a good value. It malfunctioned after eight months, just sitting on my floor! I took it to ONE house party before it gave up the ghost. I'm a mobile DJ, and I need reliable, clean sound in a durable package. The Sound Town Metis 15" with Class D amplifier costs a mere twenty dollars more than the Rockville, but the value is far beyond that. This subwoofer is built like a tank! I treat my gear with respect, but I have no qualms about throwing this sub in the car for a gig and cranking it up for hours at a time. The amplifier is well cooled, the controls are oversized and easy to find by touch, and the overall build quality is outstanding. And the sound! Anybody can make a loud sub that rattles and buzzes. This thing sounds CLEAN at every volume setting I've tried. The LPF is very responsive to fine tuning adjustments, and the balanced inputs deliver outstanding bass reproduction. And the power - at a mere fifteen percent volume, I'm flexing my front windows! Thirty percent threatens to knock pictures off the wall. At a guess, you could easily use this to provide good amounts of bass to a space the size of a small high school gym; I'd consider it for a small to midsize dance floor in a night club without hesitation. I have come to prefer powered speakers over discrete amplifiers, and while that requires a plug near the speaker, I find that a worthwhile tradeoff. Not really a criticism, but take note: they may describe this sub as being of "lighter weight" construction. Yeah, about that. It's a fifteen inch powered subwoofer with a cabinet built out of 5/8" birch plywood. It's not light. In sum, I would recommend the Sound Town family of powered subwoofers to anyone looking to add punch to their mobile dance sound system. It may seem value priced, but I would put it up against subwoofers costing twice as much. Sound Town is on my short list for future gear purchases.

METIS-18SDPW - Solid bottom end for Dubstep, Hip-Hop, Trap
This review is specifically for the 18inch Class-D Amp variant of this sub.EDIT 2: Was sent a new one that works just fine! Great sub.Edit 10-17-2020: The sub has been great until about a half hour ago. Haven't pushed any clipping signal through it or anything, but everything is suddenly distorted sounding, particularly at low volumes, no matter what I play or what input I use.It would appear I've got a defective unit. I've contacted SoundTown to inquire about a warranty, will update this when I get a reply to see how they handle this.Edit: I sent SoundTown a video of what I was experiencing and they sent me a new unit without having to ship the old one back. New one arrived and works wonderfully.Let me start by telling you my experience with audio. I've been producing bass heavy hip-hop and electronic music for about 15 years, and playing out the same styles for about 6 years at clubs, venues and parties on everything from Behringer to Funktion. Proper low end is absolutely critical for me and the music I'm accustomed to. For monitoring I've been using JBL LSR308's for 4 years and recently upgraded to the JBL 308P MK2s with the 310S sub. My 10 inch sub costs $40 more than this bad boy.I'm genuinely impressed by this sub! I had two Rockville RBG12S 12in subs for smaller gigs alongside Behringer B210D's for tops, the rockvilles could barely touch a Low F (44hz). They had kick, but no follow through; the low RUMBLE that you want with big bass music with 808's and dominant basslines. Quite rough for 12's, but that's not what this review is about. The METIS-18SDWP is fantastic value! Their response is much more rounded, but still heavy on the lower kickdrum frequencies (60/70hz-ish). The low lows (<44hz) aren't quite as prominent which is usually the case with cheaper subs. This is with the crossover filter tuned as low as it goes (40hz). However, doing tests with sine wave oscillators, I blasted a low C note (32.8hz) through this thing and it shook everything, no distortion until you start nearing clip. So the frequency range is what you should expect from an 18. Because of the resonance around that 70hz or so, the simple fix is to use a graphic EQ to even out the tone some more. Either way, massive upgrade from what I had before. Two of those 12inch Rockvilles can't touch this single Sound Town 18 on sound quality. Bear in mind that is does NOT support stereo out. It has input A and B but for whatever reason it sums the input to mono. So you'll either need two for L and R respectively or to route only one speaker with the sub, in which case you'll get half signal so you'll have to compensate with turning everything else down. Or put it on your booth out, there's ways around this so it's not a super huge deal.My 10inch JBL LSR310S has more rounded sound than this, but it is not as powerful (550w RMS less, go figure). Still, that's 40 more bucks for 8inches less, so the 10 is going to be a more thoroughly designed product. Regardless, I've been playing with it for about an hour and I absolutely can't complain due to the amazing value; Sound Town has definitely left a good impression on me with this. I'm going to take it to a party in about a month and if there are any updates, I'll update this review. For right now, I would most *definitely* nab one (or even two) of these if you want strong low end for a fraction of what most 18's cost.=Takeaway=Build: Decent, I *hate* carpet exterior because it's a hair/crap magnet and my cat loves it. It's quite heavy (about 90lbs) and large. I barely managed to squeeze this in my little saturn. Along with 3x 10in tops, my XDJ-XZ (soft case), XDJ-1000MK2 (also soft case), 3 speaker stands, a 4.6ft long table, and a backpack. It all fit with room to spare believe it or not.Features: The crossover works, but it's not the steepest so you'll still get resonance no matter how low you put it. It does NOT support stereo output. The <100hz hipass does the job, but unless you're ok with mono sum, you will want two or a different routing.Sound: Good, but lacks uniformity. Lots of "punch", a little less "rumble". Resonance around 60-70hz contributes to this imbalance, but the sub does reach very low (<38hz). Crossover helps a bit, but not as much as I'd like. EQ/Compression can help with this.Value: Incredible, I'm super glad I bought this instead of spending 1, 2, or 400 more dollars on something else. Would suggest the same unless the resonant frequencies bother you and you can't be bothered to EQ.

Give it a chance...with some caveats
Got this (15" version) as an addition for a upcoming outdoor set up. I was about to return this upon first hooking it up indoors. I was expecting so much more. I thought I would get some in your face rumble, and hard hits. Realistic expectations are required for the price point. I have done more listening and sound tested in different areas and it does not give wide spread rumble, or heavy thumping bass notes. What it does deliver is good fill of bass notes and completes/compliments sound. After a few different location trials, with different music at different volumes I have started to appreciate the area that the 15" will cover with sound (albeit not with thump). Looking for something that will provide "feel it all over" bass, this will not get you there. So far though it does fill a pretty decent area with a good bass sound compliment though. I do wish there was a little more strength on the lower end of the hertz range, seems a little weak with supper low notes. I am sure that having some break in time under it's belt now has helped. Decent direction to go for a smaller, budget friendly set up.

Outstanding Subwoofer! No Distortion!
I’ve DJ’d approximately 20 parties since purchasing these subs and have had absolutely no issues or regrets!! These 18” subwoofers sound AWESOME! I DJ’d a New Year’s Eve set last night with around 150 guests and no matter how hard I push these things, they still sound clear with ZERO distortion! I would urge folks to disregard those negative reviews out there. For $309 each you won’t find a better sub!
