Fluke is a good quality meter . This particular unit is more suited to homeowners and the non-professional. The unit is easy to use and has the basic functions that would be needed for troubleshooting and repair.It is compact and can easily fit in a toolbox. I would recommend a hard case to protect it from damage.

This is a great meter to throw in your toolbox for the occasional troubleshooting session. doesn't measure current, but does ok at voltage. Rugged and is a nice size (fits in your pocket). A little on the slow side compared to the other meters in Fluke's lineup, but this is great to have on hand in a pinch. Decent build quality and features for the price. If you're doing more serious troubleshooting, then you might want to upgrade to something that can measure current.

If it had a clamp with in rush amps and could diagnose potential start capacitors itd be godlike. But Fluke does not sell a legitamite clamp meter no matter how much money you spend. If you want that youll have to buy a fieldpiece sc440. As soon as you buy the clamp meter it can no longer effectively read accurate continuity so you need 2 meters just to do one fieldpiece sc440. And this little 45 dollar meter pretty much does everything. But to be honest when it comes to fluke meters they always have hidden stats and are very outdated. The fieldpiece sc440 is currently the closest thing there is to an ultimate meter. It has not had a single issue diagnosing every single situation. It is a little unnecesarily difficult to use which has nearly led me to improperly diagnose on a few occasions as im still getting used to it but its the only thing i put my full trust in because i have for 20 years. But for 45 this meter is practically a 500 dollar meter and will do everything but start capacitors. Dont trust it it will read that its good but its a false reading. And the fluke clamp on meter wont read to megaohms and will say you need both the 234 amd the 101 to get full functionality. But might as well just have the sc440. I do trust this for most everything and all capacitors just not starting capacitors at all. Luckily i knew from 20 years experience the part was bad and retested it with my fieldpiece. Put this one in ur car or carry it in your pocket and feel comfortable as if you had a 500 dollar meter. I believe it is 100 percent accurate except what i stated. This is a sad fact of fluke meters that nobody talks about or likely even knows. Imo fluke is crap but i still like this meter along with my 234 but honestly i only use em for back up meters to my other back up fieldpiece.

I've used Fluke meters for years at my job. I bought this for light around the house use. It's a Fluke meter, you can't go wrong!

Primary reason for purchasing this was to measure resistance. The meter came ready to use out of the box. No ranges to choose from, just select the test you want, plug in the probes, and get a result. The meter comes with batteries installed and a thick multi-lingual manual primarily to provide usage warnings. There really are no how to use instructions or specifications included. For those, if you need them, you will need to go to the Fluke website. I am very happy with this meter. It works well for resistance measurements and I assume will work for other basic functions.
