This is a keeper. This is a true shaving mug. Your brush stands in this mug with the handle mostly above the rim. Which means you can whip up a luxurious lather without banging your brush handle on the rim. No fear of cracking the rim or brush handle with this mug.Also, it is heavy. The ceramic quality is feels there, and looks there, and performs as one would demand from a shaving mug.I have a stainless steel with a lid bowl in which I keep my hard shaving soap. The reason for the two step, rather than keeping the shaving soap in this mug is I use shaving creme when traveling, or hard soap at home. The stainless bowl allows me to put the lid on after shaking out excess moisture, and have a "pot" of shaving soap ready for use. The soap does not dry out.I use a wet, heated synthetic brush that I whisk up soap and transfer the brush to this empty shaving mug.This mug sits on a coffee mug warmer. I fill the mug with hot (almost boiling) water, allow it to warm up, soak my brush for a few seconds to minutes as synthetic needs no pre softening, then pour the heated water into the already full of hot water sink.This allows me to whisk up a hot lather, which stays hot to the very end. Man does this feel good and work well.As I noted, this is a keeper.

This is a very attractive porcelain mug. It's very good quality and is proportioned well for lathering. I placed a puck of Fine Accoutrements shaving soap (72 mm diameter) in the bottom and there was about 6 mm of free space around the puck. I'd guess then you could fit close to an 80 mm puck in the bottom. The top is nice and wide so you can work up a great lather without clanking your brush handle against the sides. I like shaving mugs with apothecary style handles like this because it gives your thumb a little grip to avoid those oops moments. Good buy.

It a nice mug. The little handle has proven to be much more useful than anticipated. The price was right.

Previous mug was too small for available shaving soap cakes. This makes a difference on the lather.This is just about right size.Easy to hold.Nice appearance when sitting on stand.

It's a sturdy mug, well made, and the logo on the side gives it a bit of style. On the larger size so it can accommodate most sizes of soap without a problem. It holds heat reasonably well, although perhaps not as well as the very best/most expensive shaving mugs. An excellent value for sure.EDIT: After a few months of use I'm upping my review to five stars. It fits Crabtree & Evelyn soaps perfectly and after a couple of uses they soften into the bottom and stay held in place. With a good brush I've been getting a perfect warm lather every time. My only regret is that I dropped mine and chipped it and my wife won't let me get a new one because it still works fine. :((Also, I realized that the logo looks like the Stark wolf from Game Of Thrones, and what could be cooler than that?)

Just received the mug. Looks fine. My problem with this is the painted "Made in" label on the bottom of the mug.I naturally believe that quality craftsmanship shows in all aspects of any product. I have not seen a company that would do such a shoddy job on the "Made in" label, porcelain or not. Take a look at the attached snapshot. Only after taking this snapshot I was able to read the country of origin.

Started using a DE shaver and wanted to get the whole experience of using a shaving mug. This is very easy to hold and wide enough that you can get the brush in and build up a good lather. Great for the price and would recommend to anyone looking for a sturdy mug.Not going to lie, every time I shave with this it makes me think of how my grandfathers and their fathers must have shaved... it's not as fast or carefree as modern shaving methods but it's a heck of a lot more fun.

I don’t think that there is anything to dislike about this product. It functions well to allow a great lather and a comfortable and smooth shave.
