As an artist, art educator, and art lover, my collection of art books is priceless to me. This is my favorite addition to my collection in the past year, and I loved it so much that I'm buying a copy for a friend. The format is simple: focused color schemes from art history and pop culture, such as the hair colors worn by Dennis Rodman throughout his NBA career. Seeing each color scheme is interesting, and just as interesting are the topics of the color schemes - such as the colors of stripes worn by the subjects of Alice Neel's portrait paintings and the range of yellow beaks in Audubon's bird illustrations. The topics of color symbolism and color psychology fascinate me, and this book of color schemes speaks on both, as well as color being a cultural artifact, such as the variation in the red of red caps from Renaissance portraits. It's a refreshing, entertaining look at color schemes, and bonus points for the CYMK values at the back of the book.

I needed to pick out a color to paint my office & guest room, and had NO CLUE what I wanted. Sick of all the grays in my home, I needed inspiration. I got so much more! Thank you Edith.
