It works
Seems durable and worked for my purposes. I needed it to help seal a small electrical box. I used it to cover a large hole I had to drill to get cable ends through. I used this in combination with clear silicone. I wasn’t overly worried about water getting in but I am concerned about small critters making their way in or wasps setting up shop. It’s been on there for about two weeks and is holding up.

I've used both black and red
The black ones smell (badly) more than the red ones. Both take a few days in the sun outdoors to out-gas.The black ones are thicker and stiffer than the red. The red ones are quite flimsy. Depends on what your use is.Now here is what I never expected: the red ones are flat-out STICKY. So sticky that everything was getting stuck on them (lint, dirt, hair). (Unlike the black ones, they even come packaged with separators so you can get them apart.) I solved this with dry baking soda. Scatter/wipe some on, and then wipe off as much as you want to get the level of "grab" you desire. You can wash it off if you like.I'll give these 5 stars because they are cheaper than at the big box stores, and depending on your needs there are the three types (each different not only in color). I have found so many uses for this material.I won't knock a star off for this, but they could do a much better job describing the differences between the three types offered.

Very useful…
The 3 different thicknesses were perfect for sizing gaskets.

God-awful smell with an allergic reaction
I purchased these to secure a fridge in my van on a plywood base. The price was right and the texture perfect. Out of the bag, the smell was VERY strong but I figured it would dissipate (per other reviews). However, within 10 minutes of trimming (they are not cut on a perfect square), my hands and fingers swelled up and I felt ill. Decided to forgo the return and trash them, immediately removing them from the house.Suggestion: Take a look at silicone mats for kitchen counters. Inexpensive, light texture, no smell, and human friendly.

Insulation for a water container
I tried this material for insulation on a water pump I made for winter camping. It may not have a true R value but every little bit helps. The material is a bit more soft than anticipated and it does get easily scratched and damaged but worth trying. The sticky side set up fast and seems to be holding well.
