Solid Drum, Great Sound
Received on schedule, ready to play. Being made of wood, this is a very solid drum. The drum skin arrived well-tuned, and the instrument offers a resonant sound. I ordered the large size, which is perfect for an adult player.

Heavy, But Great Sound & Quality
I bought this drum for a college class that required a djembe. It produces pretty good sound quality, and is really well made, especially for the price. The drum is sturdy/heavy, which helps with the sound quality/quality of the drum overall, but tough if you need to carry it around for awhile like I did. The shoulder strap was really helpful for carrying the drum, though it did also dig into my shoulder after a few minutes of carrying. Overall, the drum is great quality, and has decent portability! It's definitely bigger than I anticipated, but the size helps keep you from hunching over too much when sitting down to play.

Good Value, Sounds good as is and great once tuned.
While it comes with instructions on how to tune the drum, they don't tell you how to know when it needs to be tuned. I received this in perfect condition, well packaged. It is 'loosely' tuned as all of them are because depending on here you are going to use them, ambient temperature and humidity, you might not want to tighten it up very much or you risk splitting the goat skin head. The first thing I noticed about this drum is it is truly hand made. The inside is very rough with signs of hand made workmanship. I can't speak for anyone else but I love that. You can tell an Indonesian carver made this drum. It is exactly as described except the head isn't 10". I have 7" hands so this drum is a little small for me, especially when the playing surface measures 8 3/4". The drum head measures 9 1/2" from side to side, not including the mounting material. When I play this drum, I'm using all fingers and no palm at all which isn't recommended.Except for the size, this drum sounds awesome, well constructed and is a good value. I'm keeping this one, not only for it's design and cool factor but also for the possibly get others interested. For someone with smaller hands than I have, it will be great for them. Sound wise, it is better than I expected and much better than I heard on youTube.

Great sound Well made WOW LOVE IT!
I didn't know what to expect because of the low price. I am very happy I took a chance on buying this drum. I belong to a drum circle and the sounds I can get from this drum are amazing. It has great high sounds on the rim of the drum and a nice base sound when striking it in the center. The only fault is that it did leave a black mark on my pants after the first . I read that in another review and thought it was a fluke but it was true. I don't wear light clothes now and it did only happen one time. The stain did come out in the wash but I am still going to be careful. If you are looking for a good drum case to carry it in make sure you get the dimensions of the case because the one I bought was a bit too big and I had to use styrofoam to make the drum fit. Happy drumming folks.

I love the traditional sound of this Djembe
This Djembe has a deep, traditional tone, which I really enjoy. I do play it only indoors, as I don't want to worry about the head going out of tune. (Although it is tunable) I really love this Djembe, and so I play it a lot, and from what I've read, it seems like they get even better with age and the more one plays.
