Utterly delightful. I gifted this to me, but think I shall be getting more because it would make a wonderful gift. It comes in a cotton bag, the smell of the leather is rich and makes it feel like a class item. I love deckle edge paper (part of what sold this to me). It’s not the thickest, but it’s lovely cotton. I’ve put photos above of how it reacts to different elements. I tried with wet and dryish water colours (left) fine liners and gold markers. On the right with water colour marker brushes and ordinary colour marker pens.Someone elsewhere said you can’t rub out pencil. I drew lightly with pencil and wasn’t so good with cheap coloured rubber but with white rubber it seems no problem. Probably wouldn’t fare well with very dark pencil / graphite. I photoed the back of the page and have to say pretty much the only thing that bled through was the heavy marked gold sharpie.For me it’s 5*s. Just love this and feel I’ve really treated myself. And husband has said he wants one too.

I'm using this journal as a watercolor sketchbook, and it truly is one of a kind! The texture of the paper is beautiful, you can feel it under your paintbrush, and it makes for a very unique experience. The paper is incredibly absorbant, Which I was surprised about since the paper is thinner than standard cotton watercolor paper. There's absolutely no bleed to the back of the page. Buckling is miniscule after a piece dries completely. Overall the value and quality of this sketchbook is unreal.The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I attempted sketching and erasing on the journal, and it didn't go as well. This paper is definitely not made for sketching with pencil. It doesn't take graphite as well as any other type of paper in general I've used. And when I tried lightly erasing, it just ate away at the paper. 5/5 for watercolor and ink, but definitely not for sketching.

Bought this for some of my garden witch recipes - I just adore it and it is so well made and beautiful to look at. If you are looking for really neat vintage notebooks look no farther than this one!
