Great for cleaning Bedridden Hospice family members w/Dementia
When a dementia patient is nearing the end it is almost impossible to communicate instructions. When changing attends it is common for end-stage dementia patients to grab their caregiver's wrists, try to reach into their attends or occasionally become aggressive during cleaning. These little mittens were so lovely. The family could place them on the hands assuring that they will help to keep the hands warm while we clean the family member up. They were received so well by our family member and we were able to do a quality cleaning job each morning and night (and other times as needed). The center has these soft cushy cotton fillings for the patient to squeeze. Then after cleaning just remove and put away. It is important to remember--this is a temporary tool to use when tending to the dementia patient's needs. THIS SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A LONG TERM RESTRAINT! HOSPICE is not allowed to use these tools any more because of abuse. This is all about caring lovingly for the family member in need of our love and support.

Comfy mitt
I loved the mitts for my male super-senior rambunctious relative who suffers with dementia at times. My only problem is he can eventually wiggle his hand out of them so i had to buy some cut chains and 2 small gold locks from the hardware store to put around the mitted wrist so he can't get out of them...and this worked. I only need to do this while I do our household errands and remove them when I return home.

I’m not too sure about this one.
So I caregiver for my 85 year old immobile and dementia diagnosed grandmother. She began tearing her diapers so her previous nurse and current hha recommended mitten restraints. They weren’t specific about which ones to get so I tried my luck on these.Ordered these over a month ago and the first night of using them, grandma got them off. I have not tried tying the band to the bed but without other methods I use, she still manages to get them off. Also, with enough tugging and yanking the mitten material rips.

keep the dementia patient safe
my mother had dementia and had a habit of taking out her oxygen and her pick tube for her IVs. nothing seemed to work and she would always get mad. with these gloves she was unable to undo her pick tube and she did not undo her oxygen. they were very friendly restraint rather than tying her to the hospital bed which is unacceptable. that's what they did in the hospital and they ought to be ashamed of themselves
