I looked over numerous reviews for this item (about this particular company) prior to ordering it and though I found the positive reviews to outweigh the negative vs. value for product and the page presentation (claims & info) to be superior, in most regards, it appears I'll have to be looking again.The sage sticks do actually appear to be as described. They are very rich/fresh smelling through the packaging, "well" wrapped (by visual assessment), but upon opening the plastic bag in which they were shipped I was disappointed with the way they were packaged and later, more-so, when I found the smudge guide, which is SUPPOSED TO BE INCLUDED WITH MY 12 STICK ORDER, was NOT included at all.Though I haven't burned them yet I am relatively confident in the fact they will burn as they should, as the quality can be felt, seen and smelled. However, once again, the packaging left a great deal to be desired. In the photo they are depicted within a box and what I received within the outer plastic bag were 12 sticks in a common unmarked, thin quality, semi torn "lunch" bag with some clear tape securing the top and bottom. Again, the "smudge" pamphlet/book was NOT included. The simple brown lunch bag might not have been such an issue for me had even a single layer of bubble wrap been secured around it to prevent the subsequent chipping and breaking of a few pieces from the wrapped bundles.I'd had this marked as an automatic "subscribe and save" item to be shipped at regular intervals, but unfortunately it seems I'll may have to be searching again to fill that now vacant slot.Should there be any "remarkable" changes in quality (good, or bad) upon actually burning the incense, I'll return to add those findings to this review.UPDATE: After I wrote the above review I subsequently burned the incense and have added a star to the original rating. Though as stated previously, I'm still not at all pleased about the packaging this was delivered in, or the omission of the promised "smudge" pamphlet/book/guide, I am pleased with the way this burns as well as the binding of the stems and leaves themselves.They burn slow, as they should and I believe most would want, evenly and provided you don't have a poorly binded one, the string slips down readily as it burns without becoming loose so that the entire bundle unravels while, or before it has fully burnt.You can smell it is fresh and it smokes nicely as well. Unfortunately the scent didn't linger in rooms as long as I would have liked (I've burned other varieties where the scent lingers for up to, or slightly over a week) which I would think most would like/want, but it does remain for a good number of hours on a single wrapped bundle. If the company ever sends me the book they offered with this purchase I'd probably add this to my subscribe & save orders (as I see myself using this regularly in the future), but until then I'll keep looking at other sellers.

I’m a Salem witch. No! I am! Grew up there and enjoyed all the witchy perks that were just rolling out in the early 80s. It was and still is very convenient for the pagan/wiccan community, and I do miss it sometimes. Just not in October.When I moved from Salem to Florida I stopped practicing my craft for so many reasons I won’t get into here.But 23 years ago I moved to The middle of Missouri. Super rural. Have cattle in the fields, and not one pagan person in my small town when I got here. All the reasons I stopped doing things I loved and found comfort in were gone, and I had a garden to grow sage and all the other stuff. There was a few witchy shops in Columbia and St. Louis where I was able to build back my altar and shiny things.Last year I was traveling a lot for work and the gardens didn’t get care. My 10 year old sage passed away due to neglect.Recently a good friend went to Salem to visit family and of course spent an arm and a leg for all things pagan. No joke. They’re priced for the tourists who don’t know any better. She gave me the idea of making little starter kits of pagan/wiccan/divination/astrology supplies. Of course I want to include some good smudge in the kits as they will need it to start their learning process. (I do tarot readings n’ other stuff) I hopped on good ol Amazon the Soul Sticks Store was the first I clicked on. Prices were great, the product looked stout and clean, and the other reviews were good!I ordered it on the 24th of April and it was in my hands when I got home on the 26rh. I’m hoping to have time this week to really use one for myself. They smell beautiful. Not one fake scent or horrid chemicals detected (they sell fake sage drenched in essential oils and some kind of binder.)I’m sure they will do well to cleanse the bad juju that’s settled in my house over the past 4 years of hell we all went though. I cannot wait!

I ordered these as part of a self-care basket/gift bag for a women's wellness retreat and the size and quality were well received! They burn easily and smoothly. It was a big hit! I will re-order once I am depleted.
