I purchased this as a gift for someone but I had to assemble it first. After reading other reviews of misaligned holes making assembly difficult, I decided I would do the hard work before giving it as a gift. This item was packaged nicely in one box. Everything was individually wrapped and damage free. A lot of work went into shipping this globe so that it would not be damaged, I was honestly expecting to receive a squashed globe that looked more like an earthly helmet but it was packaged absolutely wonderful which is important to me. Assembly was easy and only took about 15 minutes. There was no discrepancy with holes lining up, it was simply easy to put together. The finished product is both functional and acts like a piece of fine furniture so I kept it for myself and used a gift card for the person it was suppose to go to. In any event, I love this globe, the meridians and equator line up exactly as their suppose to, the color is very distinct and rich looking, the ridges representing mountain ranges are a nice feature and make the globe a workable and functioning product. I can't say anything bad about this globe and believe me, I scrutinize everything. If you're in need of a classy globe at an affordable price, you won't be disappointed with this one.

I bought this globe for my dad for Christmas. Good globes that are reasonably priced are actually pretty hard to find. I searched various other sites including the National Geographic store, but either the globes had poor reviews, or were extremely expensive. This globe is the perfect price and had good reviews, so I purchased it, and I am happy I did.The Good:-Delivery was fast and efficient. Someone said the globe comes in a giant box the size of a large oven. That wasn't the case for me. Maybe a microwave oven sized box, if that. The one drawback I had with delivery is that I marked this item as a gift on amazon, yet it still came with large 'GLOBE' markings on the box. Amazon refunded me $20 for this inconvenience.-Very easy to put together. All holes are pre-drilled and everything screws in easily. I think all I needed was a phillips head screwdriver. The whole process from opening the box to full assembly took about 15 minutes-Size. The globe and stand are a nice size. The stand is a little over 3' tall. The unit fits nicely in a small or medium size office and isn't too bulkyThe Bad:-The globe itself is a little cheap. The equator has a gold band around it that is basically a laminate sticker that looks like it can easily peel off. And the globe itself is very light and the build quality in general isn't the best. I only took off one star for this though, because it is still a decent globe, and the way it sits flush in the stand and smoothly rotates is very nice.Overall I recommend this globe for a gift or for yourself. It is a nice decorative item and can be educational too. My dad says he takes little breaks from his work to look at the globe and relax. It should be mentioned that the print is somewhat small. He mentions he uses a magnifying glass to look at cities, but I can't fault the globe for this because almost all have small print, and he has bad eyes.

This globe was a replacement for another that I had ordered for my grandson's Christmas gift. The first one I ordered came incomplete with-out a stand and the seller refunded my money so there for I ordered this globe,both through Amazon.Since the other globe was a disappointment I was very nervous about this globe until it arrived.It is a 150% much better globe.It is so pretty.The maps are authentic and easy to read.It came well packaged without any damage.The stand was so easy to put together that my eight year old grandson put most of it together with very little help from his dad.He was so pleased with it, discovering countries he had never heard of.We have had fun looking for the different countries and I believe it has helped with some of his school work.

I got this as a gift for my then-girlfriend, now-wife, over 3 years ago. It's a beautiful, classy addition to any study, office, living room. The wood frame was very easy to set up and has held up well over the years and a few moves. The wood has gotten lightly scratched and dinged but aren't very noticeable.The globe itself looks high quality and is updated. Over time, the plastic tape around the equator has started to lift up. To fix it, I'll likely put a little dab of glue on the edge to keep it down. That is the only part of this product that is anything other than high quality.Over time, we've used the stand under the globe to hold magazines and now, firewood.

They did such a poor job at centering the two pieces that make up the wood ring that one of the square blocks that the leg screws into was sticking out beyond the top of the wood ring. It should have been obvious to the employee that assembled it at their factory. It really stuck out because the part that should be hidden under the top part of the wood ring doesn't have finish on it. Rather than go through the hassle of a return I removed all the screws, rotated and centered, carefully predrilled new holes, and screwed it back together. Having to do that really irritated me.As stated in another review, the pin on Antarctica prevents the globe from spinning entirely around in the vertical direction because it catches on the wood ring. Not sure if that's by design but I don't like it.Some of the parallels don't line up perfectly. Not sure how typical that is in manufacturing these but it's irritating to a perfectionist.Now the good...it looks great. They did an excellent job on the finish...it's flawless on mine.
