Introduction to Shakti
Because of my studies some decades ago, I was familiar with the varieties of the divine feminine in western European mythos, but I was not nearly so familiar with the eastern versions of Her. This book is a great introduction to Shakti and the divine feminine in some Eastern religions. The author dives deeply into the historical underpinnings and context of Shakti and the divine feminine. She also discusses ways to work with Her. You don't really need any previous knowledge about Shakti as she also does a good job explaining from the ground up, even going a little into some of the differences between eastern and western perceptions of Shakti and the divine feminine. If you have any interest in the topic, this is an excellent introduction.I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Good enough for introductory and low price.
While this book doesn't claim to get into any extreme detail, I wish the publisher would have paid a bit more attention to detail. When gender pronouns are confused in a sentence, it becomes impossible to tell if they are speaking about the previously mentioned god or goddess, which kind of really matters in this type of book... There are careless grammar issues throughout the book. But, aside from that it's quite an interesting read, especially if you are a new-comer to these topics. I would still recommend it, but with the caveat that the publisher should polish up their next edition.

Great for beginners
Gets the foundation down by sharing the history of shaktism first and goes on to include practices that correlate with the goddesses. Also very easy to understand and keeps it simple

Informative
I’ve been hearing this word a lot and I don’t understand what they mean. All I know is that the word came from India. This book showed me that there is more to this word and gave me a better understanding of it. Though I admit, it would take time for me to absorb all this info.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Definitely Learned Something New on 'Shakti'!
It's a good collection of things associated with what we understand as Shakti or the Divine Feminine. Although it seems to be written in a rush with some generic and vague descriptions on Shakti. The Manas, Citta, Tantra, and Yoga sections are quiet good. Helps one learn new things. Also interesting, are the tales of different Goddesses and rituals associated with them.

Mistakes
Lots of typing mistakes in the book, which is annoying. The text itself is easy to read and comprehend.
