I'm a retired RN and saw a lot of skin sores and breakdown from sitting in a recliner while someone is recovering from a broken hip or simply sitting in one place for a long time unable to adjust their own weight! This is the perfect way to heal broken down area on the buttocks ot cocyx area, as it gently takes weight off of pressure points and ensures the skin stays intact. It is quiet and very comfortable. I am overwhelmed by being able to but this! Not one of the Home Health nurses I'd talked to had ever seen one before. Simply Amazing! Love Love Love! I can't say enough about it!

My father has several pressure sores near his tailbone and the various foam/gel/water bladder pads found on Amazon were not helping. In fact, one of the most expensive ones, that combined these various forms of support causes another pressure sore to appear after only using it for a day. The wound care center that is treating my father's sores recommended that we use a low loss alternating pressure mattress for my father's bed. While searching for the mattress, I came across this company and saw that they also sell an alternating pressure seat cushion with a portable pump. Just like the mattress, this seat cushion alternates pressure within the four air cells to prevent sores from developing and to help heal existing sores. There's also a static mode if you need to reposition the patient. The portable pump has useful adjustable settings for duration and firmness level. The battery within the control unit pump is rated to last for 12 hours, but I haven't tested it. Since my father is wheelchair-bound at home, we keep it plugged in, so as not to drain the battery unnecessarily. When we need to move the wheelchair (e.g., toileting), we unplug it and run on the battery briefly. The cushion and the control unit are well-designed and I am especially impressed with the high-quality of materials used. The product is pricey, but anyone who has dealt with pressure sores knows how hard they are to heal and this is the only product that offers the support my father needs and it's one of the few being sold on Amazon. Their low air loss alternating pressure bed mattress (which we purchased also) is also well-designed and well-made, so I highly recommend this company to caregivers looking for mattresses and cushions for loved ones suffering from pressure sores.

Was working fine then the rechargeable battery died and it stopped working

I purchased the cushion due to my mother loosing her ability to walk after a recent illness. She is in a chair of some sort all day long & sleeps in a appropriate sleeping lift chair for the disabled. It gas helped her bed sores she got in the hospital healed up (along with more thorough care at home). The change in air pressures at intervals you set make a huge difference. It also is very easy to use. Just put on the hoses & plug it in. I cover it with a chair protector pad so I have no need to wash the cushion as of yet. But it is covered with a rubbery type protector so it is easy to wipe clean. Highly recommend for anyone who has a family member or themselves unable to get around.

Bought for a 77 year old with Alzheimer’s. Needed something that will change positions periodically because person can’t move herself. This pad works. Moves person so that they don’t develop sores. Especially someone who is confined because they are unable to move or stand.

I bought this item to help with my grandmother who sits most of the day hoping it would help with pressure sores. It arrived in a timely manner. We followed the book and charged it for the 5 hours it recommended. We placed it in her chair and started it up. Worked great for about 2 weeks then the pump completely stopped. I contacted Amazon and they sent a replacement right away. Once again I charged it like the manual stated. We put it in her chair again and got her situated and turned it on. This time it worked for a whole 3 hours before the pump quit working. I called the Apex sales for the United States and they told me there was nothing they could do since it was bought from Amazon. For this being such an expensive item, I thought it would be a good quality and work for more than 2 weeks! Beware if you order this.

We love the product and it is very helpful for my mom, who's mobility is limited. The problem is we had to exchange it once because the quarter went bad and wouldn't charge anymore and now the replacement cord is also doing the same thing but I can't find out how to just replace the cord alone and I might be outside of my window for returning the cushion again so I may just have to buy a new one again.

I purchased this device for my friend who was diagnosed about a year ago with ALS or Lou Greigs's Disease.He had started getting red pressure points on his buttock. This cushion has made a world of difference. We keep the settings at 10 min cycles and comfort level at the maximum 5.The pressure points have disappeared. He has no complaints and states it is very comfortable despite being up for nearly 9 hours per day.
